Sad but there's loads of great solos to play again and again. One of the great guitarists. Walter, you didn't know me but I certainly knew you. Thanks, you gave me some some great moments.
I saw him on tv playing live recently and he looked ill and quite a bit overweight. I love Steely Dan...Aja is one of my favourite albums... Epic band. RIP Walter.
Just packed my ipod for a lazy break amongst the Led Zep, The Clash & Lizzy etc there's 3 Steely Dan tracks including "Rikki don't lose that number" CLASSIC! RIP
Dreadful dreadful news. One of the true greats. Due to be seeing them in November, hopefully the show will go on as a celebration of one the great feel good and wonderfully gifted bands of my lifetime.
Being a bit more of a jazzer than a rocker I loved the little references to jazzmen that they would slip in. For example the intro to Rikki Don't Lose That Number is from an old Horace Silver song. Nowaday days people would sample it rather than play it, sadly.
Sad day Steely Dan one of the best and innovative bands of the 1970,s gave my girlfriend the album can't buy a thrill ... should have kept the album and ditched her...RIP Walter your music will live on
Reelin in the years one of my favourite intros and great number. Liked everything they did. RIP Walter
The guitar solo is just bloody awesome, I never tire of it it has to be right up there in the top three of guitar solo's ever, not to mention the lyrics on 'Reelin' that are perfectly scripted, it's one of those songs that you sing at the top of your voice when your in your car and it comes on the radio. Sad news of his death, what a great, great band they were. RIP
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
