Perhaps you should turn up at Burnley. It’s only an hour and a bit away from you.

Coleman will be hotter than mustard if he strengthens the club going forward. I get we have got to sell to survive but we need to build as well. Least he goes to the games and he moved over here.

I hope I'm not mistaken here, but I think he'll do more now without being hamstrung by Levien.

Swansea City get 20 million investment : Levien & Kaplan go ! on 13:47 - Nov 8 by RichardO | The timings of those outgoing can be crucial to the people involved and the club in terms of extra experience gained and a better amount of money for the club. Connor Roberts seemed as if he could have left earlier but didn't he held off and stay longer thinking promotion was possible and Dan James went for more than the initial price and I thought gain a lot more first team experience. We have seen the trend of players being allowed to run their contract down and in the case of Ntcham wanted away as soon as possible leaving us with two big holes to fill after the expected loss of Piroe looks as if we will have another two unless the forseen changes impact of players descions. |
New money must be spent wisely. Connor Roberts on a free on decent wage and a new circular saw woodworking bench..Put money into wages not transfer fees. Yates just scored a worldly according to Talksport. He is still a £2m asset. 50 goals in last three seasons. [Post edited 9 Nov 15:14]

If he goes somewhere else on a free, for money than we could offer, are you going to give him all the grief you’ve given Joe Allen lately?

Swansea City get 20 million investment : Levien & Kaplan go ! on 10:07 - Nov 8 by Dr_Winston | We have to be careful about profit and sustainability. As we've seen with Newcastle, a takeover doesn't necessarily lead to massive spending, nor should it. A renewed sense of purpose, joined up decision making and everyone pulling in the same direction will be a big boost. If they are going to commit to long term expenditure, I'd rather investigate possibility of returning the academy to Cat 1 status. |
Absolutely not. Spend any money on the first team. It desperately needs it in certain positions. When the first team is doing well, then the Academy follows that. And lets focus on the welsh lads not players rejected by big clubs that agents have recommended. Next to none have ever made it. Google Kenji Gorre and Gregor Zabret.

In fairness I just read your post and agreed with the first part and had even thought of Newcastle ( although on a totally different scale ) as a great example of how to handle investment wisely. However I do think that we should start off strengthening the first team before hopefully rebuilding the academy to what it was Bringing on our own local players is key to our future success as a club though

Developing players is important. Whether they're local or not isn't. Neither Daniel James nor Oli McBurnie were local when they joined the Academy, but they brought in £40m between them. Investment in facilities and youth development is (I believe) not counted for FFP purposes. A strong academy is an option for raising cash for developing the first team in the long term in a way that simply spending the money on the first team isn't.

We have spent money since we got relegated, often on players that have not really improved things, partly because we have seen a variety of systems and sometimes the signings have not really made that much sense. If we go back to a strategy of developing players through the academy or by making signings that fit into a formation and improve on what we have, then we have a chance if building a good side. Williams seems a reasonably organised coach but our attacking play is below par. Immediate needs seem to be a loan for a creative winger and a good centre midfielder that will allow Franco to push forward more and do more damage in the attacking third. In that way there's not too much disruption to the team. [Post edited 12 Nov 20:49]
