I asked this question before the Season ticket's went on sale. But again, with time passing to purchase: who's in the Chapel starting Wrexham at home? Standing loud - until stewards kick up a whinge.

You have nothing to lose but your Northam chains. Reclaim your sanity.

Think there’s eight of us who’ve moved our season ticket out of the northam crèche and into the blocks next to the away fans at the back.

I think if I’d had to do another season in the f*cking awful banter wall I’d have ended up killing someone

Think I may well be in with you all - block 20 row NN (penultimate row) for me. Should be good; looking forward to it!

The majority wanted to stand.
Many wanted the away fans moved.

That's now happened and fans still aren't happy. I guess the club are never going to please everyone no matter what.

The vast majority of our fans are happy with the new setup. The Northam is more popular than ever, especially with younger fans. You're talking about a handful of middle-aged men who have to gawk at the away fans. They're not going to see much of the game.

Fair enough and I can’t speak for other people, but for me, I didn’t have a ST last year mainly due to annoyance at them taking where I was away in place of the wall. I went a few times but it isn’t the same. As long as the Chapel is up for a vast repertoire of songs and less of the pre-planned ‘top 10 funniest football chants’ banter, i’ll be content.

As those who stay in the Northam will likewise be content with their choice.

The crowd I go with are going to be watching keenly with interest from afar to see how it goes in the Chapel.

Not averse to the idea of moving there myself if the stewarding is going to be sensible.

A big if, though......

I have always said that Saints fans need to have the away fans next to them to make a noise, the Northam Wall is a great idea in principle and hopefully it will evolve, but the problem was there is no catalyst to start the singing.

We don't have anyone leading the pack and keeping up the noise for 90 minutes, we are reactive not pro active, the noise levels are only raised when something happens in the game.

As for moving next to the away fans, not sure what is achieved, it's all about Banter, but as we saw with the Itchen North a few years ago, it all went a bit too far.

This is trotted out all the time and it's just not even close to being true.so just to set things straight,

A very large section didn't want the Northam Wall, i don't know a single person in the Itchen Noth who wanted it to happen.

It's not just middle aged people as many of the folk i know who dislike the change and are moving from the Northam are in their 20s as they are in their 40s/50s.

The issue isn't anything to do with "gawping at the away fans" it's the utter dirge that comes from the people in the Northam. Songs about players c*ckcs, songs stolen from liverpool, constant songs about the skates, childish "banter" are far more of a reason than proximity to away fans.

The club could've resolved this pretty easily when they planned the changes, they could've had their "wall" and also had the back five rows of the chapel also as safe standing.

Instead they decided everyone was the same so lumped everyone in the same place.

I'm not sure if you spent any time in the Northam last season but if you did you'd understand just how bad it was, and why so many of us want absolutely nothing to do with it.

Being near the away fans is definitely not important to me and although I prefer to stand watching football, that isn't a necessity either. However, being surrounded by total gimps singing the same w@nky songs and acting up was so unbearable last season, I'd honestly rather not go full stop than have to endure that again.

I've had season tickets in all 4 stands of St Mary's since it opened and the abomination that is the Northam Wall is by far the worst. The Chapel has always got mocked for being dead, but I had several seasons in the family section in there and in comparison, it was a much more enjoyable place to watch football.

In terms of results, last season was the worst in our entire history so that was hardly the time to make a comparison. IF this season is anywhere near average, you can judge it more reasonably.

Personally, I thought that, in spite of the abysmal season the team had, the Northam remained remarkably loyal and vocal in their support and that was one of the few sources of pride for our supporters. It got mentioned by TV commentators too.

One things for sure and that's if the dozen or so fans who move there, stand up persistently in a non-standing area to look at the away fans, they'll be banned from the Pompey game, and it will be very easy for the Club to do that with such a small number involved. If there are more, they may even close that block completely as they did with Block 1. That is fairly predictable.

If gawking at the away fans is not the reason for the move, there are plenty of other blocks you can move to where you'd be less likely to get banned and, as a bonus, you'll have a better view of the game.

I don't really mind - as I said, I didn't get a ST in the wall, nor did I like it when I went in there, so I'd rather be forced to sit than go in there.

In terms of moving to other areas, I don't think you are correct. Kingsland North and Itchen North would essentially be an extension of the wall. Kingsland and Itchen centres are more expensive and for fans who demand a good view. Itchen South is the kids section. Not to mention the club would be further against a lively Itchen for hospitality income.

Chapel / behind the goal is the only probable move. Where exactly did you have in mind?

Last season was the worse one ever for results that can't be denied, but at some clubs that is the time when the siege mentality kicks in and they show their pride in their club, if not the team, manager and board, but the club.

At times the Northam remained loyal but it was always fragile and when we conceded goals it emptied far quicker than it should have.

It's problem was that it was too fragmented, there were essentially 3 different sections, those who were already there and they split into two factions, some stayed where they were and others went into the centre, a second group who went there to sing and a third that thought that wanted to be in the atmosphere but weren't that keen on joining in.

As Lawrie McMenemy used to say at Newcastle the crowd gives the team the support and the team responds, at Southampton the team have to give something to the crowd and then the crowd will respond.

Behind the goal in the Chapel you'll be fine. Blocks 16-19, there will be no problems with stewards. You'd only have problems if you tried to stand for the whole game in Blocks 20 & 21 next to the away fans.

'siege mentality'
We were like a Castle with its doors wide open.
Last season we were given a long awaited home end only to suffer the worst season I can ever remember.
As for moving so you can be next to the away fans.words fail me.
