I think Jimmy's the perfect captain for this Club but just wonder what him getting the armband might leave Field and Cook feeling
Personally dont think it will affect either.
Cook probably knows he is only likely, at best, to be available for half of all our games, due to injuries and just his age, and Sam Field has always said he is one that tries to lead by example but is not the shouter or the one that encourages etc.
Think both Cook and Field will be right behind Jimmy and as Jimmy says especially Cook, who has been there and done it, he can still learn from him and ask questions himself.
Yes, his attitude after losing his father, was top class. He showed what a strong character he is and you do know with Jimmy, he gives everything he has.
Personally think it was the only option and good luck to Jimmy.

I'd imagine they'll be fine. Both are players who would expect a captain to lead by example and set a good standard for behavior, whether it's them or someone else. They'll respect that Jimmy has that approach. It's not like when adel was made captain.
I wonder if it will lead to the ubiquitous chant of "we've got Super Julian Stephan, he knows exactly what we need, with Dunney at the back and Kelman in attack, Rangers are going to win the league" or some such.
I had the misfortune of watching/ hearing darting pugilist Kevin "the artist" Painter lead a chorus of this at an event last summer focused on Super Kieran McKenna, quite nauseating really

I think you're right, and ultimately it doesn't make a huge amount of difference as they'll lead on the pitch anyway.
Interesting that a manager who apparently wanted to leave in April got put on gardening leave, and a player who wanted to leave in January gets made captain.

Isn't that all based on rumours though ??
I tend not to believe things until the reality actually happens !!
Heāll be a good captain but a bit cntish on Cook I think.
If I had a negative outlook Iād wonder if this is revenge for having the temerity to fulfill his contract and not fcking off kindly.
This isnāt this kind of club Iād want QPR to be if it was.
I'm not sure I agree. Cook is still huge at the club and has a great deal of influence. However, I've had the foot injury he's had and it's a total ars*hole to fully recover from because it can echo for some time afterwards. I think Cook's game time will be managed carefully this season and hopefully he can still be the big influence behind the scenes and on the pitch with Jimmy and co. If you select a captain it is with the view that they can lead the troops and more importantly, be as ever present as possible. Cookie needs to concentrate on playing his football and concentrating on that aspect (and enjoy it), rather than being the leader.

I mean, yeah thats all fine, but weāve still taken it from him. I donāt know anyone that would take a involuntary (I assume) demotion well. Would you?
Weāve had plenty of captains out injured that kept the armband.
I might be wrong, it might all be consensual and a massive circle jerk at QPR HQ but if it isnāt it seems at best ruthless and at worst petty.

How can folk see conspiracy in this? It amazes me how we look for the negatives in everything Rangers. Has anyone thought that maybe, just .maybe Cook has himself agreed its sensible to have a younger and more durable captain. Theres no extra money in captaincy so hardly a demotion.

Alternatively, how can folk not entertain the realistic possibility that taking the captaincy from someone will not have negative consequences.
