My good mates a West Ham season ticket holder and we were talking about JWP. His view wasn’t particularly good as in his words he “lacks pace, can’t tackle and is a one-trick pony”. Having returned after his loan to Forest, how many uglies (like me) would welcome him back for a loan next season?

He’d be more than adequate and welcomed by myself, especially in this league.

I would argue in the championship he is exactly what we are missing right now

Last time I saw him he was played up front and looked quite handy. Anywhere else and he nearly always passed it back.

Your mates assessment is exactly my opinion of him. He got away with it at ours because he was surrounded by so much shite, but take his free kicks out of the equation and you’re left with a bang average Premier League player.

Having said that, of course he’d be a good addition for us, but it’s never going to happen.

B*llocks to him he’s a skate. Served a purpose for a while but we should be aiming better than a modern day Matt Oakley at the end of his career

JWP got away with it thanks to Oriel Romeu doing all of his dirty work for him.
We miss Oriel more than anyone else we've got rid of in last couple of years.

I think I agree with this. The key part of this is bang average premier league player, not championship.

Maybe drop Stephens to the bench and make a returning JWP our captain, the fans would love it and god knows we need a leader on the pitch.

Spot on Grim.

Only Sports Republic’s doughnuts would allow a player to leave who ultimately ends up playing for Barcelona.

Wasn’t the suggestion that Oriel would stay for another season if Ralph went but he wouldn’t play another game with him as manager given that we had only just won one game from the last fourteen and avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth ?

The rest is history. Ralph stayed before being sacked mid season and ultimately we lost our top flight status after appointing Jones.

Rather than the bench, drop the clown back to Bournemouth, he can bench warm there.

As last season it was painfully obvious that we lacked even average premiership players, he would have been an improvement on what we had. I don't want to experiment any more with a gang of "ones for the future", I don't mind if players are at the end of their careers. If they improve our promotion chances, preferably automatically, I will welcome them to the side. Being a club worth playing for at the opening of the next transfer window makes it easier for a club to recruit better players and the rebuild starts on day one. All that matters until Christmas is results. After then, only results matter.
