As with the Lionesses boss Wiegman, it is better to be lucky than good.

Our starting line-up paid Wrexham far too much respect. Five at the back and one up front was ridiculous.

If you are going to pick Adam Armstrong, he should not be a lone striker up front; he is far better playing just behind a front man.

We didn’t really look like we were threatening at all until Fernandes came on (much too late).

Fantastic to get the win, but I really do hope we are not going to persist with 3 CB’s. It is not a recipe for success.

Couldn’t agree more, we got lucky albeit somewhat down to quality introduced and fitness

We have to go 442 or 451 from now on

Our attackers are poor I hope we bring in another that Downs might as well be Mara

Fascinating game is football. How many times did we "play well" in the past, with 80 per cent possession but got nothing?

I would rather get three points by whatever means, than "play well". Get players in the box, throw the kitchen sink at them, who cares, just win the game.

In a tight game you always need a bit of luck because it's fine margins, but to me WS deserved the win, not least because of the ways he adapted during the game and because our improvements in fitness really showed.

Three CBs can be an attacking formation if you have wing backs (not full backs) getting forward and play 1 defensive midfielder instead of 2.

Armstrong is either a wide striker in a 4-3-3 or a second striker in a 4-4-2. He's not a centre forward. The problem is that unless either Stewart or Downs step up to the role then we don't have a centre forward, which would be a big problem. We shouldn't have sold Tall Paul without a good replacement. We could have got rid of AA, Archer or Diaz because they're basically interchangeable, but none of them can do what Tall Paul did. If we go into the season without a proper CF who's up to the job then we'll need a helluva lot more luck.

Absolutely Pat, my thoughts in a nutshell.

We were also extremely lucky with the decisions of a clown as a referee.

V A R and almost certainly the defender who pushed Moore in the back would have been given a red card, he didn’t even get a booking.

Second half at 0-1 with the Wrexham forward clean through and about to shoot our defender puts his hand on his shoulder and impedes him, again nothing given.

Then to even things up he did the usual cowardly referee get out. Having denied Wrexham a penalty he denied us a clear one for shirt pulling in the box.

Honestly, as I posted earlier, exactly where do they get them from ?

I thought Wrexham were lucky to only lose 2-1. We were all over them. Credit is also due to Danny Ward. He was superb.

We had 142 successful final third passes to their 31, 45 touches in the opposition box to their 12, 27 shots to their 10. Wrexham's defence made 44 clearances to our 12. 4-1 would have been a fair result.

You don't get many matches as one-sided as this:

We need a goalscorer though.

Its funny how people can watch a game and come away with opposite views . I dont think we were lucky Pat we were all over them have you seen the stats ? they just sat behind the ball most of the game.

I agree with what you said about Armstrong.

Wrexham got what they deserved.... nothing. and they were consistently time wasting but because of our fitness levels under this new boss we never gave up and got the win . Stephens, Manning and Bazunu were all excellent as were Charles and Fraser.

I agree about the centre backs too Edwards likes to play dead centre thats why i think he struggled a bit yesterday.he was playing just next to the right back.

I don’t think Saints were lucky.

Though Wrexham could easily have scored 2 or 3 more and put us out of the game.

I think the manager was lucky as he picked completely the wrong team.

I thought the starting line up had a whiff of RM names out of a hat. Why would you start with 5 at the back.

I thought we got lucky, terrible in the first half, then dominated the 2nd with out creating much.

Still likes his teams to get balls in the box, great but why start with a midget front line against 3 massive centrebacks. That said armstong missed some sitters.
