Sven Loaning Fox Forward To Rams?
Sven Loaning Fox Forward To Rams?
Monday, 17th Jan 2011 23:23 by Daniel J Sewart

On Saturday RamZone broke a story regarding the possible identity of the striker Nigel Clough had signed on loan and who is due to be revealed this week.

The DET further fueled the same speculation today after comments made by Sven Goran Eriksson to the press when he suggested that Leicester striker Martyn Waghorn may be loaned out due to other forward signings:

"There were at least two clubs on Thursday who called about taking him on loan. We will see what happens over the next few days, I am not very keen to allow him out on loan until we have Darius Vassell back from injury. Hopefully, he will be back on Tuesday and we will see then."

As RamZone reported on Saturday, Nigel Clough has confirmed that the Rams have signed a new striker on loan in a move that will be fully announced this week.

He spoke to the DET about the deal:

"We have been promised a striker next week but the club he is coming from just want to get their game at the weekend over”. "We have agreed a deal which we are very pleased with, as long as nothing goes wrong in the next four or five days”.

20 year old Martyn Waghorn has made 19 appearances to date this season (8 as a substitute) for the Foxes, scoring 3 goals. In the 09/10 season, while on loan from Sunderland, he scored 12 goals in 43 appearances and was a major part of the clubs charge into the play-offs.

Another rumour RamZone reported on the weekend is still rearing its head as the week rolls on, with links to Burton Albion striker Shaun Harrad, who scored both goals to knock Middlesbrough out of the FA Cup.

He may be one of the free agent signings Nigel Clough plans to complete in the summer or perhaps if loan signings do not go according to plan, maybe things will progress sooner.

Clough also recently confirmed that they have an agreement in place to bring in a centre half but that it is not, as rumoured recently, Celtic's Glenn Loovens.

With the news that the Ben Davies deal is under threat, none of the other names thrown up so far are earth shattering, unless some money is spent then really what can we expect?

Nigel is constantly reported saying that he wants to boost the squad and Tom Glick also backs that up. But unless Glick and co. are willing to pay something then it seems once again we will be looking for quality amongst scraps.

Is it not time this board really supported their manager?

Good luck Nigel!
