Town are the frontrunners for the signature of out-of-contract Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson, according to reports in Scotland. The 27-year-old is expected to leave Tannadice this summer with League One MK Dons and Brentford previously mentioned in connection with the twice-capped Scot.

Robertson started his career with his current club’s greatest rivals Dundee, making his senior bow while on loan with Peterhead in 2004.

In 2008, with his contract up, the 5ft 8in tall central midfielder, by now the skipper at Dens Park, moved across his home city to the Terrors.

Robertson, who scored seven times in 41 appearances last season, picked up a Scottish Cup winners’ medal in 2010 when he came on as a sub as his side beat Ross County 3-0.

Earlier this month the Blues were linked with a move for Robertson’s Dundee United team-mate Gavin Gunning.

Elsewhere, Bristol City are reported to be ready to make a £500,000 for Coventry centre-half Richard Keogh, who is also believed to be interesting Town.

Talks are understood to have taken place between the Robins and the Sky Blues with the recently relegated Midlands side valuing the former Irish U21 international at around the £1 million mark.

Former Town Academy schoolboy and ballboy Keogh previously played for Bristol City between 2005 and 2008.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Michael Chopra has tweeted that his preparations for the 2012/13 season are getting under way: “Close season programme starts today - 30 min run.”

Adding: "The time has come to relish every moment. You only live once, so many people would to do what I do for a living."

The 28-year-old will spend some of his summer at a California health farm as he gets into shape for his second campaign with the Blues.
