Stadium Watchers Bowled Over

Stadium Watchers Bowled Over

The steel structures of the north, east, south and west stands have all been erected and the final roof truss on the West Stand is being put in place today (Friday).

It's the latest landmark in the building of the state-of-the-art stadium which remains on budget and on schedule. The stadium will be home to Swansea City FC and the Neath-Swansea Ospreys which means that it will play host to national and international sport. It will also be the city's first stadium concert venue

The work is being carried out by Swansea-based contractors Interserve, who have entered into a contract with Swansea Council. All parties involved in the partnership are working extremely hard to bring the project to fruition.

A Council spokeswoman said, "It is really exciting to watch White Rock take shape, especially now that it looks like a proper stadium. The next step will see the pre-cast concrete terraces lifted into place by crane, and then the rest of the roof steel work will be put into position."

Contracts for those elements of fit-out of the interior of the stadium have yet to be awarded as work on this stage of the construction was not scheduled to start until the New Year.
