Robinson Signs Contract Extension

Robbo In For Two Years

Andy Robinson has committed himself to be a Swansea City player until 2008 when he finally put pen to paper and signed a new deal at Swansea today.

The contract signing follows months of speculation and thoughts that he may join Stoke, Cardiff, Southend or any other club that may show an interest. It appeared that he may have played his last when Swansea announced before the new season that they seemed to have reached stalemate on the talks but other than missing through injury on Saturday Robbo was picked twice and scored once in the Swans poor start to the season.

Speaking on the official site today, Huw Jenkins said "I'm sure Swans supporters everywhere will be delighted that we've finally managed to secure Andy on a new deal

"It's taken us a bit longer than we wanted, but both parties are delighted with the terms of the new contract. It was always our intention to try and keep hold of Andy who, in turn, always wanted to commit his future to Swansea City.

"In fairness to Andy, he has continued to give this club 110 per cent while the contract talks have been going on and I'm sure he will continue to drive this football club forward on the pitch.

"The interest and bids he has attracted from other clubs highlight how highly he is rated within football circles. Andy is ambitious and wants to play in the Championship. I'm sure we can get there together.''

And Swans fans received a further boost with the news that Robinson may be fit to face Doncaster Rovers at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.
