Dyer: We Can Go All The Way
Dyer: We Can Go All The Way

Nathan Dyer believes that the Swans can go all the way to the final after dumping out the holders

The on-loan Swansea City midfielder was the toast of South West Wales as he latched onto Jason Scotland's excellent through ball and drilled the ball past David James to silence the Fratton Park boo boys and put the Swans onto the path of victory on Saturday.

Dyer's goal was the icing on an impressive start to his Swansea career and he is more than happy with his form and also the place where he notched his first goal.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Dyer said ''I was expecting to get a lot of stick, but the way to answer it is with the performance and win

''I thought I was going to receive a lot more of a hostile reception. They were on my back, but during the game I didn't listen to them.

''It inspires a lot of players, but you try to prove them (the critics) wrong. You learn from things and you learn not to get involved in things like that.

''You have to blank them out and play your football. There is no need to get involved.

''When I scored obviously I was a bit excited and I put my finger to my mouth.

''That is just being overjoyed at scoring a goal. Darren Pratley tried to grab me, but I wanted to celebrate on my own for a bit just to silence those who had been calling me names.

''The gaffer played football here, so he knows all about it,'' he said.

''I have discovered the good form I had at Southampton before my injury. ''Hopefully I am getting back to that. The gaffer is making that happen because the stuff we do in training brings out the best in all the players.

''He works on every aspect of your game and it improves you a lot. I've always said since I joined Swansea that we are a Premier League side. If we play our game we can match anyone.

''The first time I came on I was getting used to the way the boys play, but after training with them for almost a month I am slotting in.

''We are playing football the way it should be played. We have not got massive strikers and all our ability is on the ground. That is the way we will win games.

''There is no reason why any team couldn't do it

''I think we can go all the way. I believe we are the best team in the Championship. We are answering our critics and people are now predicting us to go to the top.''
