Andrea Orlandi is set to give the Swans a boost by signing a new contract

The Swansea City midfielder says it is only a matter of time before he puts pen to paper on his new contract deal - just days after Huw Jenkins revealed they were waiting for an answer

Speaking to the Evening Post, Orlandi said "We have been talking about it for a month and a half

"The chairman and manager know what I think.

"I am very calm and they are, too, and it's a matter of time before we get the deal done.

"It depends on a lot of things, but they know what I want and I know what the club want, too.

"Everyone should know that there is no problem with myself and the club.

"Sometimes the media will make a big story out of these things, but that is not the case here.

"I am not worried about it and the club aren't either.

"When I arrived we were in League One, but we have changed a lot in two and a half years," said Orlandi, who has started 13 games under Paulo Sousa this season.

"We have stepped forward and are improving all the time.

"It is not the same club I joined. Being part of that is fantastic for me — I am a part of the team and I am very happy here.

"I'm really enjoying it. I used to play in this position in Spain, but I'm getting used to it again," said Orlandi.

"It is the best position for me because I have the ball a lot more than when I play out wide.

"When you are a winger you need the pace like Nathan (Dyer), David (Cotterill), Cedric (van der Gun) or Tom (Butler), and that's not one of my strengths.

"You need that skill to take on players in a one-on-one, but when you are in a central position speed is not something you really need, so this is the better option for me.

"I think the manager gets the best from me in this role.

"But I want to do more for the team and help the club move up the table."
