Nathan Dyer says that the Swans will not be starstruck as they come up against Man City's team of superstars this evening

Swansea City's player of the year last year will make his Premier League bow for the club tonight in the live Monday night football and insists that the Swans will not be overawed by the occasion or the stars facing them.

Speaking ahead of the game, Dyer said "We won't be getting star-struck

"Manchester City have some fantastic players — they are the team with the money at the moment and they have spent big.

"It is going to be amazing to play against some of their big names, to see what they are like and to compete with them.

"You watch them on television all the time and you admire them, so it's going to be great actually facing them.

"But like I say, we won't be getting star-struck.

"As footballers we are in the same game as them, and there is not really a player we would get star-struck by.

"Maybe there are one or two who used to play, like Zinedine Zidane, but we just respect the players now.

"When we get out on the pitch, we will get our heads down and play our own game."

Dyer knows as well that he must stay on top of his game this season with the new faces in the squad - particularly Wayne Routledge

"Wayne can play in a number of positions, but obviously one of those is on the wing, so me and Scott will have to be on our toes

"That's fine because you need good players like him to come in and make sure you have a squad strong enough for the Premier League.

"When you look around the division, even with the teams at the top, no-one plays every game.

"There will be times when I know I'll be on the bench and others will get a chance."
