After a third away point of the season at Newcastle, Joe Allen remains confident that the first away win is coming - and could arrive at Everton on Wednesday

Allen said after Saturday's 0-0 draw “We’re getting more and more confident on the road and we’re looking forward to Wednesday’s game to see if we can get that first away win

“It would get the monkey off our back, but it’s not something that overly bothering us – we’re confident it will happen.

“We just have to make sure we work 100% to try and achieve that and show composure and bravery to go to these places, play our football and get results.

“It’s difficult to go away and just think about a win because you can lose a little bit of focus from the fact you’re playing at a Premier League team that’s been there for years. We know it’s going to be another tough game but we’ve got a great team and some great players here that are capable of going to these places and getting results.

“You can speak about so many grounds that will be tough to travel to this season and Goodison Park is another one,” said Allen, who returned to the Swans’ starting line-up on Saturday following a one-game ban.

“We’ll have to show resolve at in some parts of the game, I’m sure, then we’ll have to go up the other end, create some chances and score some goals.

“There’s no reason why we can’t go to places like that and get results.

“It’s a shame we haven’t got that victory before now but there have been some positive performances and it’s important to remember that.

“We’ve shown how far we’ve come. We had to defend for our lives and we were prepared to do that.

“We would do anything to pick up point.

“Away from home has been a bit of a focus recently. We haven’t had that away victory but we’ve been to Liverpool and kept a clean sheet and we’ve come to St James’ Park and done the same there.

“To not be at our best and still pick up a point away from home in Newcastle is no disgrace.”
