Everton Test Awaits Swans
Sunday, 26th Jan 2014 17:37

The Swans will have to make history for themselves if they are to progress their FA Cup run this season after this afternoon's draw pitched them up against Everton led by former manager Roberto Martinez.

After the early part of the draw offered hope to the Swans when Chelsea and Man City were drawn together as were Arsenal and Liverpool but they were made to wait until the end of the draw when they found out their fate was a trip to Goodison Park to face the Toffees.

The Swans have never beaten Everton so will need to break that record if they are to progress in the competition but we I guess should remember that we had never won at Old Trafford until our victory there at the start of the month to kick start this cup run.

Five matches against Everton since promotion to the Premier League have produced just one point for the Swans whilst they have managed just five draws in their eighteen previous games against them.

The two sides have met once in the FA Cup before - back in 1954 when Everton won 3-0.

As draws go this is one of the toughest that we could have gained this time around but then again nobody gave us a chance of getting past the third round and remember we didn't exactly have an easy ride on the way to Wembley in the Capital One Cup so let's not give up hope just yet?

Full fifth round draw

Manchester City v Chelsea
Sheffield United or Fulham v Nottingham Forest or Preston North End
Arsenal v Liverpool
Brighton & Hove Albion v Hull City
Cardiff City v Wigan Athletic
Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton Athletic
Sunderland v Southampton
Everton v Swansea City
