Pelle Hits Two As Saints Cruise To Second Tour Win
Thursday, 17th Jul 2014 21:17

Graziano Pelle didn't take long to make an impression in his first appearance in a Southampton shirt as Saints romp to another victory.

Although these low key friendlies can have little indication as to how good or bad Saints may be when they start their Premier League campaign, it is still good to get little bright spots and the fact that Graziano Pelle scored within five minutes of his unofficial Saints debut can only be a good omen, the fact that just after the half hour mark he added his and Saints second was an added bonus, of course we have to look a the standard of the opposition, but it does indicate that our new man does have an eye for goal.

Once again it was a team of two halves with a complete change at half time and in the second half Saints completed the rout with goals from Sam McQueen with his second in as many games, an own goal, a Mayuka penalty and finally Sam Gallagher tucked home the rebound after the goalkeeper could only parry a Billy Sharp effort.

That all added up to a 6-0 win for Saints who can now step up their pre season to the next level with confidence knowing that the squad is perhaps looking stronger than last with several youngsters who last season were not quite ready perhaps being that much nearer the first team this time around, Sam McQueen certainly appearing to be one of those.
