RamZone Wrap: Prefer To Screw Up My Face Than Write Anything!
Saturday, 21st Mar 2015 08:04 by Daniel J Sewart

Owen Bradley told Craig Ramage on BBC Radio Derby that; ‘you can’t just screw up your face — you have to say something’. Well frankly I know how Craig felt as I would prefer to screw up my face than write anything!

The last thing I feel like doing is a summary of the continuing story of Derby's season sliding down the drain, especially as most of you will have watched the game live on Sky if you didn't travel to Molineux.

Instead some quick thoughts before I wrap myself into a ball - and rock back and forth in the corner of the room.

In short Derby dominated the midfield for long periods against Wolves, with both Bryson and Hughes in particular impressive. Lots of possession but little result in the way of genuine chances.

Wolves should have been down to 10 men after a disgraceful pull back of Darren Bent by the last Wolf went unpunished.

But you can’t use that as an excuse as the Rams conceded two sloppy goals and Craig Forsyth was the culprit for both - after failing to do his job and clear the danger when he had the chance. He must be dropped and Warnock given a chance to do what Craig, who is a shadow of his former self, has been struggling to do all season.

Lee Grant should not have been put in the position to let in a howler of an own-goal but at the same time a goalkeeper at this level should not be making such elementary mistakes. He will nervously watching over his shoulder as well after a month of less than commanding performances between the sticks.

The Rams are in danger of sliding out of the top 6 and have a massive mountain to climb to even be within striking distance of the top 2 again.

You can only hope that we will see all players back on the park after the international break, fit and ready to lend a hand to have one last tilt at the promised land.

There is no point in dwelling on this last month, the players must now run through brick walls to not waste their hard work which promised to deliver so much.

Until then we can only stew, sleep uneasily and carry the feeling that the Golden Fleece is fast unravelling and once again becoming straw.

Until then I think I will take Mr. Ramage’s lead, screw up my face and write no more.

Enjoy the break.

We Said / They Said - Match Reaction:

We Said — Steve McClaren:

"We've set standards at this football club in trying to be humble about accepting refereeing decisions. Tonight that was tested to the limit. It was difficult to take."

"This time the referee was totally wrong and, when he comes to look at the video, he'll realise that he made a mistake.”

"Unbelievably, the player did not get a yellow card, never mind a red card, we did not get the goal, and it changed the game, so it was a triple whammy.”

"You get what you deserve in the end in this game. We play the best football. And I'm sure we'll bounce back from this. There's a long way to go."

They said — Kenny Jacket:

"At times we rode our luck. Derby are an excellent team, but we did well to overcome them. After beating us five earlier in the season, it looked like there was a chasm between us, but for us to now be only two points behind them is an excellent achievement.”

”We've got goals in us and we cause problems for opposition defences. But it was still important to make the substitutions we did and get Dave Edwards on in midfield.”

"We're still in with a good shout of taking one of those three promotion places. Once again, the Easter weekend looks like it's going to prove vital."
