What Makes A Good Transfer

If ever you wanted proof that for most people in the media the Premier League starts and ends with the 'big six' then you only need to look at Express Sport's 'team of the transfer window' that only includes one player outside of the Top 6.

So it got me thinking what makes a good transfer? The eleven players they have picked include Raheem Sterling (£49m), Morgan Schneiderlin (£25m) and Nicolas Otamendi (£32m) amongst others who clearly cost plenty of money

Being the bigger transfer fees then you would assume them to be the better players but that for me does not constitute a good player. Look at the value we got for example last season from Fabianski or Jack Cork which was far better than what Man Utd got from Angel Di Maria as an example.

The signing of Andre Ayew (who does make the "bench") for me is better value than Sterling and definitely a damn sight better than the amazing sum that Liverpool paid for Christian Benteke but because Benteke is a 'bigger name' then he has been included.

Nathaniel Clyne makes the cut for the first team according to the Express as does Pedro who alongside Otamendi has not even played in the Premier League yet so we have no idea how good they will be.

Laughably Radamael Falcao makes the bench alongside Ayew, Chelsea fans must have been delighted at his capture given his unprecedented success at Old Trafford last season....ah, wait sorry I got that bit wrong.

What this simply tells you is that outside of three players (Cabaye, Ayew and Shaqiri) they all play for top 6 clubs and Express sport believe that a good transfer is determined by how much money you have spent in the main. And that is why football is the way that it is today.
