Refwatch: Dale v Oldham
Thursday, 22nd Oct 2015 17:15 by TVOS

Highly-rated referee Andy Madley will be the man-in-the-middle for Dale’s derby match with Oldham on Saturday.

Mr Madley is in his fifth season on the league list and has made rapid progress in that time, as shown by two notable appointments in the last six months.

In May he refereed the League One play-off final between Preston and Swindon at Wembley, while last month Andy appeared at Anfield for Liverpool’s Capital One Cup tie against Carlisle.

Dale fans will recall Carlisle lost on penalties, with our former midfielder Bastien Hery missing the crucial kick.

More recently, Mr Madley was on TV last Sunday as the man in the middle at Derby v Wolves.

This will be Andy’s sixth game at Spotland and his second since July as he refereed the pre-season friendly against Huddersfield.

His last ‘proper’ game at Spotland was early last season when Dale produced a magnificent display to beat Walsall 4-0.

The full list of Mr Madley’s Dale matches as a referee is:

Dec 11 Walsall (a) D 0-0

Apr 12 Exeter (h) W 3-2

Feb 13 Accrington (h) L 0-3

Feb 14 Dagenham (h) L 0-1

Sep 14 Walsall (h) W 4-0

Jul 15 Huddersfield (h, F) W 4-3

A 32-year-old PE teacher from Ossett, Andy is the brother of Premier League referee Bobby Madley, who will take charge of Sunderland v Newcastle tomorrow.

All told this season, he has refereed 14 matches, showing 41 yellow cards and three reds.
