Protest march planned for April 16th
Tuesday, 22nd Mar 2016 18:20 by Tim Whelan

The group behind the ‘Time to go Massimo’ campaign are now organising a protest march before the Reading game on April 16th.

It’s been a while since we had a protest march at Elland Road, and I think the last one was the Trust’s anti-Bates ‘Campaign for change’ in February 2012. The last owners managed to escape any protests, if only because GFH were already in the process of selling their majority stake in the club by the time the fans became aware of the utter mess they had made of Leeds United’s finances.

But now the anti-Cellino have decided that after their posters, projections onto the East stand, and the video truck that was parked at the top of the car park on Saturday, the next stage in their campaign is a march on April 16th. Their twitter page promises “route details soon”, and it won’t be long before we find out how much support this group has among Leeds fans in general.

On Saturday there was a counter-protest from 2 blokes with a bed sheet proclaiming ‘In Massimo we trust’. It’s not often you see the words ‘Massimo’ and ‘trust’ in the same sentence, but each to their own. Not all the comments on the ‘Time to go’ twitter page are supporting the march, and if the ‘Leeds United Group’ on Facebook are to be believed, there are plenty of Leeds fans who think that things go better with Cellino.

But at least the march (and any counter demonstrations) will create a bit of excitement on April 16th, more so than the likely performance on the pitch, as our season drifts towards yet another mid-table finish.
