Ex Liverpool Player Suggests That Van Dijk Is Better Off At Southampton !
Monday, 17th Jul 2017 20:06

Usually the media has been full of stories from ex Liverpool players claiming that they are assured that Virgil Van Dijk is about to become a Liverpool player.

Virgil Van Dijk is now approaching his fifth calendar month of being "Close to joining Liverpool" according to a plethora of ex Liverpool players keen to up their media profile.

So it comes as a breath of fresh air that at least one ex Liverpool player feels that Van Dijk's immediate future does not lay at Anfield but would be better served by staying at St Mary's.

Mauricio Pellegrino who made 12 Premier league appearances for the Anfield club in 2005 is perhaps the one ex Liverpool player who actually knows exactly what the score is in egards to this situation and nothing he has said has suggested that Van Dijk will be sold.

On his appointment Pellegrino was given assurances by Saints Director Of Football that Virgil Van Dijk would not be sold and this was key to the Argentinian accepting the job at St Mary's.

Pellegrino has since spoken of how Van Dijk is central to his plans at Southampton suggesting that in the yes of one Ex Liverpool player at least, Van Dijk would be better off giving his current employers at least one more season.

Saints have a history of standing firm with players when it is not in their best interests to sell, both Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama seemed to be ready to force moves through to Tottenham Hotspur and both missed games through mysterious illnesses when told they would not be going, but Saints proved that they can play hard ball when they want to and won't be bullied by the so called big boys.

So those Liverpool players who are so desperate to create the impression that Virgil Van Dijk is about to join Liverpool would do well to listen to what one of their own is saying, and listen to what Southampton FC are saying however that will do little for their media career, telling the World that Virgil Van Dijk is going nowhere does not make headlines and doesn't get them in the media.

Nick(or whoever keeps writing these posts nowadays) please stop these endless comments about VVD. Truly it's just becoming boring now. If VVD goes he goes if he stays he stays. What else is left to say?

You are right what is there left to say ! Thats the irony of these stories, they parody the endless posts saying the same things that are constantly put out, if you think that this is a serious story then you are missing the point Im afraid

Yes I agree careful not to become a speculation site. We are hardly in the shit if he goes and if he stays we may start top of the league for the first ten games... but he didnt manage to effect Europe when he was in the side fit or appear in the cup run much. Goals is what we need and more than we ship.

Nick, I never thought it to be a "serious story"or for that matter a post worthy of parody. As I said it was just boring.

Surely with your alleged contacts at S F C there must be something else other than VVD that you can attempt to entertain us with during the close season? How about the up to date position regarding the proposed takeover or how season ticket sales are going. Please, anything but VVD.

To be fair to Nick he needs to keep his site bubbling along and there is even less news from Saints than there has been in the past, and that's saying something. I'm always chatting about who id like to see in Red and White but honestly I would be shocked if there was any movement now... unless we get £40m for Bertrand (sounds almost as mad as £50m foe Walker eh)
