Chelsea look set to take over from Liverpool in making St Mary's their footballing supermarket of choice with news that they could make a double raid in the next week or so.

Antonio Conte is on record as to his worries about Chelsea's defence and the lack of signing and he could be about to make a double raid on the South Coast and try to prise away Cedric Soares as well as Virgil Van Dijk before the transfer window ends.

Soares who has three years left on his contract has also been linked with Barcelona and Juventus this summer although no concrete bids were ever received.

If Saints were to sell him then in today's inflated market place and under no pressure to sell then they would be looking to rake in at least £25 million for the Portugese defender.

However unless it is a truly exceptional offer then Chelsea are likely to be rebuffed.

But a deal for Van Dijk might be welcomed if it is a combination of around £50 million plus Andreas Christensen

In today's over-inflated market and with Walker going for 50 mill, surely an international with 22 caps from the successful Portuguese side would be at least 25-30 mill !! 100 mill for the pair - CS + VvD - upfront in advance, or do one !!

The stance on VVD was a start, selling Cedric will just undo all the good work. I hate it when other fans just say we are a selling club and who can argue with them ?
