LFW looks at the odds available for QPR's home match with Nottingham Forest on Saturday and at value in the markets elsewhere this weekend.

Brian is away this week but Lewis made a bright start to LFW punditry last week with a £40 win, although that does leave him £10 down overall. There were the usual near misses for Brian who is £50 in the red after week one – he shall return to look ahead to the Scunthorpe game next week.

I’ve got that horrible feeling; any regular punters out there will understand this feeling. It’s a feeling that is hard to describe but is sort of a regretful, angry, stomach turning sensation. This sensation has been cast upon me through my ability to mention two long shot bets (QPR/Draw – 14/1 and 1-1 – 11/2) and not include them in my selections for the week. Of course both of them results came in and I’m sitting here tearing my hair out for not backing them. I managed to retain £40 quid of the kitty last week thanks to the low scoring affair at Home Park but my accumulator went tits up with Newcastle producing the goods against Reading. My PGA bets made me look like a complete fool, that Hunter Mahan has now cost me a small fortune (in student terms).

Anyway, we move on and with a little bit more luck and growing some balls to back a big price we shall succeed. This weekend top heavy Forest make the trip to West London and when I say top heavy I don’t mean Jon Parkin heavy, I mean Forest have what QPR could only dream of, clinical strikers and plenty of them. Saying that, Forest may be well equipped up top but their downfall this season could be a somewhat leaky defence, conceding four at home to a poor Watford side speaks volumes. It pains me to say this and I know it’s a punters sin to back your own side but reading how well Rangers attacked on Tuesday at Bristol added to Forest’s wobbly defence, I think Rangers will win comfortably this weekend. I’m going to stick my neck out and take the 100/30 that Rangers will win by two or more goals, I’m a mad man. Also, it has been a while since Rangers scored from a corner in the league (despite Clive constant winging about the lack of quality put into the box) the centre backs are due a goal, so Fitz Hall to score anytime at 13/1 with Paddy Power is worth a punt. I will also chuck in a cheeky Rangers 3-1 win at 18/1 with totesport.

Elsewhere in the sporting world this weekend the Ashes takes centre stage. I can’t see England having the batting firepower to overturn the Aussies so for me the Ashes will return to Australian shores. I will however be patriotic towards the chances of Jensen Button this weekend, the wheels have started to fall off his championship wagon in the last few races but I reckon he will bounce back this weekend and win the European Grand Prix and at 8/1 makes it the best bet of the weekend.

For the weekend:
£15 on QPR to beat Forest by 2+ goals at 100/30 with Bet 365
£5 on Fitz Hall to score anytime at 13/1 with Paddy Power
£1 on Rangers to win 3-1 at 18/1 with Totesport
£13 on Jensen Button to win the European Grand Prix at 8/1 with Betfair
£5 on Austrailia to win 5th Test at 9/4 with Ladbrokes

Jonesy’s Yankee Doodle £1
Coventry to beat Swansea 6/5
Everton to beat Burnley 13/10
Sunderland to draw with Blackburn 12/5
Charlton to beat Walsall 4/5
