According to the Turkish media Saints have dropped their asking price on Mohammed Elyounoussi but it is likely to be a loan deal.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Besiktas are closing in on loaning Moi Elyounoussi from Saints, the stumbling block is being stated as the fee with Saints looking for around £1.5 million for a season long loan but the Turkish club being willing to pay around a third of that.

The loan fee though is fairly insignificant in that it is more about how much of the players salary Besiktas are willing to pay and it could be that if they get him for a low loan fee then they will take on all of his salary.

If they were to pay all his wages plus a loan fee of £500k that in effect would be the equivalent of a £2 million loan fee if we were paying him the salary that he perhaps should be on here, a player of his ability would expect to be loaned out for about £2 million with the club he is being loaned to taking on wages of about £30k.

But this is the bloated salaries of the Premier League, so there is a lot of wheeling and dealing to be done and for Saints it is more about saving a few million on his salary than pay him to do nothing here.

Elyounoussi has excited the fans in Istanbul by liking a ‘Come to Besiktas’ post on social media, and Fanatik believe the player is eager to play in front of the Black Eagles’ fans at the Besiktas.

According to the Turkish newspaper, there are only a couple of minor details left between Besiktas and the player, and the club’s board are also working to convince Southampton over a deal.

Fanatik claim if nothing extraordinary happens, Besiktas are likely to confirm his arrival this week.

Having said that lets give him some credit for behaving in a professional way during what can't have been an easy time for him at St Mary's.In direct contrast of course to the behaviour of some of our expected Saturday quests.

Carrillo and Elyounoussi and Hoedt cant get in the team ahead of Long, Armstrong and Stephens. Lets celebrate the changing of the guard and hope that we survive long enough to get these guys off the books.
