Thread of the Week - England Manager
Thread of the Week - England Manager
Wednesday, 19th Dec 2007 16:27

Well, exiledram certainly started something off when he posted his views about the England Manager appointment.

It created a hotly debated thread about the whys and wherefores of an English appointment v foreign appointee and has (I think) resulted in the longest thread yet on the new RamZone site.

The disappointment felt by all England fans over the failure to qualify for Euro 2008 and the subsequent sacking of Steve McClaren has led to a heated debate over the rights and wrongs of appointing a foreign coach. Certainly Fabio Capello is the 'world class coach' that the FA promised - but there are those who believe a country should have all the players + the coach and staff as nationals to show how well a country can do - and Croatia are a good case in point for that being a small but highly successful nation. There have been very strong views voiced as to whether Harry Redknapp should have been approached, or Steve Coppell - whilst the debate over whether Martin O'Neill can be classed as 'British' rumbles on!

Meanwhile immense disappointment with the performances and results from the Rams have given plenty of talking points.

One of the main points of discussion is the proposed - and hoped for - American investment which it looks may be coming our way before Christmas. This investment is believed to be cash injection as opposed to loans.

There's been some threads too about whether or not the Plaza plans have caused Peter Gadsby to take his eye off the team, but the team signings were the choices of Billy Davies and they are the players we have to rely on at the moment.

It remains to be seen whether we offload as many team members as possible in January so that Paul Jewell can either bring in some battlers to help us survive (survival looks increasingly unlikely and history is against us from our position) or whether we then wait until August and rebuild for a Championship side chasing for promotion - again.

The RamZone Message Board has certainly picked up over the last week and is again becoming a place for sensible debate. The number of registrations/posters has greatly increased and in particular since the Rivals site changed its format. I have to be honest and say I liked the format of the old site and was sorry to leave that - it took me ages to get used to our new site and I haven't really used it a great deal. However, having seen the current Rivals site I am glad we made the move as their new MB is nowhere near as good as RamZone and our site is having upgrades and new features all the time.

So whether you are a new poster or whether you have been with us since August, please feel free to contribute to the Message Board debates.

Thanks to exiledram for the Thread of the Week and thanks to all our contributors on all threads.

There will not be a Thread of the Week now over the festive period so to all our posters Happy Christmas and a Healthy & Peaceful New Year.
