Final Farewell for a Rams Fan
Final Farewell for a Rams Fan
Thursday, 8th Apr 2010 14:28

We all of us hope to be around a long time to support our team – but if the unexpected happens and a Rams fanatic should die, there is now the option of a DCFC themed funeral.

This is a recent partnership between Derby County Football Club and Midlands Co-operative Society’s Funeral division.

Many of us have been at funerals where the eulogy has referred to the deceased’s enthusiasm for the Rams but it is now possible to have a funeral for a Rams fan where it is plain for all to see which team the departed person supported and for relatives and friends to share in a common interest to ease the pain.

There are now DCFC white coffins available as an ultimate tribute to a lost fan and flowers available in a Ram shaped wreath.

This is all carried out as a dignified and respectful service but with the added choice of a range of four different types of DCFC theme according to the individual taste or pocket by the regions largest Funeral Service.

First of all the normal initial funeral arrangements are made, and then the person arranging will select one of the football funeral options or any of the individual elements to create something personal and unique to the departed.

This can be adapted for either a burial or a cremation. The football funeral options are additional to the overall cost of the normal funeral arrangements or to any Midlands Co-operative Funeral Bond that may have been purchased in advance.

It is also possible to have a headstone or memorial personalised with the club crest.

The four choices are bronze, silver, gold or platinum and the basic bronze package includes:

- Coffin lining and gown decorated in DCFC logo and colours

- Coffin set with the Derby County Football Club crest

- Inscribed memorial brick placed at Pride Park Stadium

- Hire of the DCFC flag to drape over the coffin

- Where the route allows, passing & pausing at Pride Park

- Memorial entry on the ‘In Loving Memory ‘web pages

The additional components to make up to the platinum lev el are all available as individual elements and can be ‘mixed & matched’ and include club crest & coloured wreaths, a specially made DCFC coffin, entry in the Book of Remembrance and interment of ashes at Pride Park.

The total additional cost over and above the basic normal funeral costs would be around £1000 for most of the components but anyone who has lost a fanatical Rams fan may think that this is a really worthwhile tribute to recognise the support that the departed have to DCFC during their lifetime.

Further information is available from Midlands Co-op Funerals, see:

(This service is also available for supporters of Birmingham City.)
