New kit 2014-15 13:06 - May 31 with 19047 viewsieuan95

Someone has done some mock ups of what the possibilities of our kit are next season. Which ones do you think are the best.

For me i think the tabella home shirt is the nicest. As an away shirt the black condivo is nice with a navy one as a possible third kit. Cant see us having another red away shirt for a while.

Actually i think im wrong there. Didnt we buy out 32 Red to the sum of 500k to secure a major market player that turned out to be a company nobody had heard about?

Last years deal was worth £1,5m

This years deal is worth £1,8m

Depending on what spin you want to put on things , it could be said (if the figures are correct) that the deal is lower this year which means we are in the bottom 2/3 in terms of clubs having a shirt sponser reduced in cost .

It could also be said that after removing the money spent on buying out 32Red we have made 300k extra for this season.

What happened to the story that a major sponser was going to help with stadium expansion etc,etc . that went very quiet and then we ended up with GWFX .

Anyone know more, or is it a secret ?

It could be said that you've worked really hard to twist the Swans changing sponsor to increase revenues into a negative for some reason, but thankfully you've failed. Mostly due to the input of people who seem to know what they're talking about.

I know it's been said before, but I am bemused by the importance some grown men (and women presumably) dedicate to the release of a football shirt.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

But the club are treating them like kids.

Maybe they are kids, of course.

Phil, as a trust representative please inform the board that this year in, year out big build up to release the following years kit just doesn't get anyone excited and infact has the completely opposite effect. I can understand them doing it for the Centenary kit but not every year...
Please advice Dineen & Co. that we the fans, would just prefer a straight forward release of images early like clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool etc and then they can have a competition to win one or whatever they want during June/ early July.
Finally, I like most will probably end up buying both but not till I've had a chance to see what I'm actually buying... But this buy before you've even seen the shirts is just plain silly....
[Post edited 6 Jun 2014 8:36]

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say it doesn't excite you. It might work for others. Me, I couldn't really give a toss either way.

I agree with you on the principle of buying something without seeing the product. I wouldn't. Some will though. That horrific shirt we had under Sousa is proof that fans will buy any old shirt. Hell our delightful neighbours proved that over the last couple of seasons.

I think that is the point. There are many that love this kind of thing and wait for the build up and the suspense that goes with it. I'm completely not caring one way or the other but I suspect that pre-orders are big as they always are.

I fail to see why anyone gets so worked up about a shirt

We have shirts made by one of the biggest sports companies in the world and a brilliant sponsorship deal that is worth (again from memory) £1.8m a year and still its not enough? Like it or not on this particular front we aren't actually that bad.

Just come across this site

Not sure how accurate it is, however it seems to tie in with what Phil S was saying, and compared to other teams it is far from the worst deal (which coincidentally appears to be Cardiff).

If that's accurate, then we do seem to be doing rather well on that front. The comparison of commercial revenue between clubs painted a much more gloomy picture on last season's accounts ... that will be interesting to see in the next set.

Nice low figures there for so called big clubs. Fulham £4m a year!!

Everton only £1.6m is low, but it is there for 10 years, which sounds good but the money in football might 10 fold in that time so will look very poor.

Sunderland still have a great deal £5m a year and last season was £20m?

But if we get around £1.5-£2m a season that looks a decent sum.

Just call me JFK

The Fulham £4m a year is a betting company. Go back to Leigh's comments about what can be earned elsewhere and potential extra sales and that could make a difference in direct comparison

I believe our commercial turnover is too small but we are working on it and it is improving but as with anything no doubt it could be improved more

It could also be said that due to a general lack of information, speculation and conversation about such matters are what football forums are all about.

Thankfully after many reasonable questions and debate Mr sumbler came forward and threw light on the subject, which was greatly apprieciated by myself and many others no doubt.

Not sure what you class as failure but if asking questions and raising debate about topics regarding our club is classed as that ,then yes, guilty as charged.

You have somehow managed to place a negative spin on the whole concept of forums and what they are all about but hey, what ever floats your boat .

While your bemused by the importance some grown men dedicate to the release of a football shirt, others, for various reasons are not, if the subject bemuses you so much then why even bother taking part in the thread ?

You need to change your negative mind set i think, its an illness that can spread and infect other peoples happiness y'know .

I'm surprised you say that figures do not need to be released by the club on every matter. Trust members have a 20% stake in the Club which constitutionally has agreed to us having a Director member of the Board. On that basis we are entitled as members to have access to all information about the Club via our director. One of the issues which raises itself on a fairly regular basis is the lack of any feedback of detailed information acquired as a result of our representatives attendance at Board meetings. It is not a question of discretion as to whether we should have access to detailed information. The information should be ours as of right.

I'm also a little surprised Phil that you say the identity of next years sponsor has been officially announced. Below is Leigh Dineen's tweet of 6 days ago which is categoric in asserting that it has not been revealed and will not be until the timing is considered beneficial by the Club and the sponsors. Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen an announcement since hence, probably, the lack of any easily discoverable link to the "news"

“@leighdineen: @pag346 @PhilofBrynmill @medwynw. No we know exactly who it is. We will announce when they and us feel its opportune.”

What an original design that would be...

and by original, I mean one another club is using,

and by design, I mean very little time has been taken on thought.

If that is the design, then I'd be mildly disappointed. But then again I suppose I would like something that stands out like our centenary kit every season!

I'm sorry but just because the Trust has a 20% stake in the club that does not make it anybody's right to have all information about the inside of the club released publically, I'm quite surprised that you think it does give that access.

The fact is Phil that Trust members have an elected representative on the Board of the club. So far as I am aware the terms of his participation do not include any confidentiality or gagging provision. Our elected representative has an obligation, which cannot be modified without the consent of those entitled to the information i.e. the members to impart to us all the information he is made privy to at the Board meetings. I would be surprised if you thought otherwise.

Spot on as far as I was/am aware....
But I will ask a friend who specialises in business law when I'm next in his company, because I always thought as trust members we were entitled to transparency from our board member representative.

So you do seriously believe that because of the Trust representation you are entitled to know everything that happens inside the club?

The Trust representative does not have an obligation to tell all the members the information he gleans at board meetings at all. It's not really a surprise I think differently because you are wrong.

Massive difference between transparency and being told absolutely everything. It would be hugely harmful for the football club for all their business dealings to be made public

FFS, it’s a kit, just a kit — who cares.

Without any inside information, I can confidently say the home shirt will be mostly white and the away shirt some other colour.

The way people are going on, the release of the kit must be the most important thing since... errr, the release of the kit last year? Shame we have a whole season to play premier league football before we are able to release new kits, eh!

Quite right.

I can see it now ... Swans are bidding for some striker and agree terms with the club and player. Phil announces the exact details on here and someone comes along and rather accurately gazumps it. Super stuff.

I'm all for openness and I think there's certainly room for improvement in that regard, but you can't expect everything to be made public. It's completely unrealistic and frankly not in anyone's interests.

Back to the kit topic - call from the club shop yesterday to say that the kits this year are of a slimmer fit than last years and the suggestion could be to 'up a size'

Thought that was a polite way of saying 'you look like you have put on weight you fat bastard!"
