Predicted squad for tonight v The Toffees on 15:04 - Sep 23 with 953 views | karnataka | I think this is a difficult one to call as we need to second guess Everton's approach to this game. By opting to play on the Tuesday after a League game on Sunday would suggest that their priority is next weekend's derby match so they may make a few changes for this one. If that's the case, then maybe we have the opportunity to do the same. Siggy could probably do with a rest for a start after his efforts on Saturday. However, this competition is one we can definitely win. The top 5, 6, 7 clubs are surely more interested in Champions League (either this season or next) than domestic cup competitions so we would be in a group of maybe 6-8 teams in with a genuinely realistic chance of winning a cup but if we are going to give it a go, we will need to play all our best players some/most of the time. With Bony out, Gomis will start and I can't see Fernandez and Bartley being ready to pair with each other so Ash has to start alongside one or the other. Montero needs to start as his Swans career could do with a bit of a kick-start but it's a toss-up between Dyer & Routs who makes way and if Siggy does need a rest, we could do worse than try Emnes in behind Gomis. Whether or not Carroll starts depends on how Ki & Jonjo have responded to Saturday's exertions. Tremmel has often played in these cup games but given the standard of the opposition, there is definitely a case for Fab to play this one. That just leaves the fullbacks. Would Richards and Tiendalli be ok or would that be a risk with Ash being the only back four regular? We need to be careful with Rangel but IMO Taylor still needs more game time to get back to his pre-injury form so maybe I'd start with Fabianski Tiendalli Fernandez Ash Taylor 2 from Jonjo Ki,Carroll Emnes plus 2 from Dyer, Routs, Montero Gomis Subs: Trem, Rangel, Jazz, Bartley, Siggy plus one of the wingers and one of the midfielders

That is not a strong 11 imo, the defence would get ripped to shreads.

quite possibly, but Taylor, Shelvey & Siggy need to be dropped tonight. I'm assuming he'll rest Ash. Rangel is no spring chicken to play 3 games in 8 days either so I'm expecting him to be rested also. Everton are virtually guaranteed to field a weakened side tonight.

I would keep Ash in there as experienced head. Have a feeling they would be like headless chickens at back otherwise.
