Chesterfield’s b2Net Stadium All-Star Charity Game 01:21 - May 28 with 218 viewsRamsTrust

Are you already craving some live football entertainment, just a couple of weeks after the season has ended?

If so, get yourselves down to Chesterfield FC’s splendid new b2Net Stadium this Sunday afternoon (3.00 pm, 29th May) - and watch an all-star game in aid of a very good cause!

It’s the ‘second leg’ of a charity ‘double-header’ on behalf of the Lymphoma Association. It is their 25th anniversary, and fans have already seen an entertaining and highly successful game at Pride Park Stadium on Thursday May 19th. RamsTrust assisted at the game and have been promoting both matches - we hope to see some of you at Chesterfield, too!

In the first game on Thursday May 19th, a Derby County Legends’ squad managed by Simon Coleman beat the M1 Management All-Stars Team 5-4 at Pride Park Stadium.

The Derby team featured Nigel Clough, Dean Sturridge, Paul Williams, Shane Nicholson, Craig Short and others whilst the M1 Team featured many well-known TV ‘soap’ stars - that are quite useful with a football!

Autograph-hunters and soap fans were able to see well-known faces from many popular shows, including Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, East Enders, Waterloo Road, Emmerdale, The Bill, and Shameless. Estimates of the fundraising from that game suggest that around £10,000 was raised - which was a great result that the Chesterfield event aims to build upon.

A driving force behind the Lymphoma Association’s fundraising efforts is Phillip Walker; he’s the father of Jamie, a former Belper Town striker for whom a benefit match featuring ex-Rams was played at Belper back in 2005. The event raised over £9,000 for the Kings Mill Hospital Haematology Department.

Happily, Jamie has now conquered the disease and just qualified as a commercial pilot - and will take part in the Chesterfield game along with Spirites’ Legends like John Duncan, Ernie Moss and Kevin Randall. On the evidence of the game at Pride Park Stadium, they will have their work cut out against an organised and entertaining M1 All-Stars team!

There will be many extra attractions and guest stars to be seen during the event, with a raffle and auctions. Please let your family and friends know about the match!

The admission cost is only £5.00 (adults) or £2.00 (children) - or take a family ticket of 2 adults and 2 kids for £12.00 - so please come down to Chesterfield on Sunday for a fun family afternoon!
