We have a squad full of young, promising players . . . and very little proven quality and experience to balance that with.
True, injuries have crippled us. But most of the time the players in the treatment room have been no better than what's been on the pitch. Are Green and Bailey any better than Hendrick and Bryson? Tyson than Robinson?
If we are to make any real progress we need some chiefs along with all the indians.
And is that going to happen?
Clearly the manager has a budget, and unless we move on the likes of Bywater, Pearson, and Leacock, there will be no money to spend.
And, at the risk of repeating myself, we do NOT just need to add to the numbers. We need players who are BETTER than the ones we have now.
But I'm not holding my breath.
The squad is full of enthusiasm and team spirit. And that's great. But it's the icing, not the cake. |  |
