Closest we've had this time to last season's formation if true .
I'd still prefer Tutte in the "free" role now , and don't see the ball "sticking" with JLAA , but with those comments , and serious reservations still about the defensive personnel , its probably as good as it can get for the present . |  | | |

Reports from his first two games in charge suggested an improved team spirit, and a return to simple & solid formations with players playing in their rightful positions. I didn't see those games. The two games I've seen under Beech' stewardship have seen nothing but heartless confusion from the players.

Not wanting to wander into a big fight here, but something I would like to mention is that it's very common to play strikers in wide positions, especially when you have no height in the middle. What I'd hope we'd see would them playing in front of the full-backs when defending and then playing close to the lone striker when we have the ball.
This means we can compete in the middle of the pitch with three strong centre-midfielders without sacrificing support for the fullbacks or leaving a lone striker too isolated. The issue I see with Dale playing this way (if indeed they are) is that we don't have a player who can hold the ball up front while players get forward to join them. Watching Bogdanovic, I think he could play that role if he got the right service to feet.
I would like to see Tutte and I would also like to see genuine width on the pitch, but for a tough game away when we're desperate to stop leaking goals, then packing the midfield and sacrificing the flair of Tutte for the tackling and work-rate of BBM/JK/Jonah might make sense. We'll have to see. |  | | |

I never thought I'd be saying this but it'd be refreshing to see BBM in the starting line-up and it's perhaps what we need. I didn't used to be a fan of his but the more I've recently seen of him the more I realise what he offers to the team (apart from a scandalous hairstyle). I would much prefer to see Tutte instead of Jones in that position though as others have already said. If Tutte gets the games I think he could be our next Perkins (he already has the same fiery attitude!) | |
