Can Fans Rule Football? 12:10 - Dec 2 with 859 viewsdavram

It seems that the alternative model of football club ownership, giving fans much more influence and participation than the corporate/"money god" structures so beloved of UK clubs, authorities & media, continues to gain credence elsewhere, particularly in Germany:

There seems to be an interesting parallel between DCFC and the German example in David Conn's Guardian article.

Both are clubs with great tradition & support, but DCFC seem content to choogle along without great ambition or the will to embrace supporters' expectations.

The Rams' recent away performances tell us all we need to know, whilst the home games generally restore some vague hope of significant progress. But, in the present era, we're just a low-budget, eternally underachieving club.

Big changes to the entrenched ownership structures that underpin the massive financial imbalances (even between teams in the same league) would have to be led by the sport's governors.

It's clear though, that fans would also need to demonstrate a significant desire for change - probably by independent, co-ordinated, nationwide action.

Are there any Rams fans sufficiently brassed off with "how things work"
nowadays in British football that will actively subscribe to this process?

Today's TV match, the FA Cup tie "confrontation" between Milton Keynes FC and the original risen-from-the-ashes Wimbledon Dons is a consequence of what might still happen elsewhere whilst money talks so strongly in football.

Sunday lunch discussion!
