Kris Commons is having a very great season and scored for Scotland last night further advancing his profile. He is also available to sign a precontract agreement with another team in January and leave Pride Park for nothing, probably going into the premiership I presume, if he did this and assuming he has an astute agent, he would receive a signing on fee and better wages than he is receiving now. My nasty feeling is that for him (and his agent) financially they will be far better off by drawing out contract negotiations, saying agreement cannot be reached, then taking the bigger bucks elsewhere. Unfortunately, the nature of the job is such that you have to make your money while you can and, in his position I cannot really blame him. If the board do manage to keep him, which I suspect from my comments is unlikely, it will be a most impressive achievement. | |
