QPR going forward from an outsiders perspective...

The teams yesterday weren't a millions miles apart, you can count on one hand the number of shots on target from both sides. For me, it was obvious that both teams were giving each other plenty of respect, especially in the first half. This was evident as nobody really put their neck on the line for fear of making a critical mistake. Despite this and being brutally honest, I consider Burnley had the better 1st half.

I think we carried confidence over into the second half from the first period of play, knowing that we had kept you very quiet. It was obvious that your passing was not up to it's usual standard and the speed at which the ball was moved from defensive through attacking phases by QPR was sluggish to say the least. You seemed to have Barton/Henry sitting in front of the back four and Kranjcar behind Austin allowing us to control central midfield even with one less body.

As the half went on, we further grew in confidence and a slick bit of play and crisp finish put us one-nil up. Naturally after scoring the instinct is to protect the lead and so you guys came more and more into the game. The majority of your 65% possession (according to the Beeb) probably came during this period of the game. With QPR chasing the game, I could still see another goal to come, I just couldn't see where from. Either you would equalize with the pressure you were starting to exert or we would catch you on the break and double our lead. As it happens we did the latter...

Personally, I didn't feel 'Arry set you up right for this game. Rightly so, a large proportion of forum posts since the final whistle have also shared the opinion that Charlie was too isolated up front. Burnley know all about Charlie Austin for obvious reasons, and leaving him up there as a lone striker played right into our hands. Duff and Shackle had Austin under control for the entire game. As many of you have spotted, he's a finisher and a lethal one at that. Charlie doesn't make goals, he finishes them. With CA in your team you need to play '2 up top', with either a traditional target man to win aerial battles or a 'Rooney-esk' type of forward who will drop deeper to collect the ball and look to release Charlie. As I don't see a natural target man, I go with Chevanton who seemed to have no problem with the ball at his feet in a 'deeper' than usual forward position.

Hoilett is a good player, he needed to be playing on the right yesterday. He should be utilised on the right side, hitting the bi-line and whipping crosses in for Austin. With two upfront, you wouldn't need him cutting in from the left effectively creating a very narrow front three.

I'd go with a Barton/Niko central midfield with Barton sitting back a bit spreading the play and Kranjcar being the creative player that he is known to be.

I think the left flank should be considered on a game by game basis depending on both the opposition and who is playing at full back.

Both centre backs have heaps of experience but Ings' pace and movement got to them yesterday (especially for the goal), if Oneyewu has better legs then I'd consider swapping him for either Hill or Dunne.

Whilst BAE didn't have a good game yesterday, the fact remains he is Premiership quality. He needs to give his head a wobble and crack on for you, if he can do this he'll be an important player. Simpson is also a decent option at RB (as is Nedum once fit).

Green is an automatic choice.

Sorry to waffle on, I just don't see the foundations of some of the negativity in the other threads on here. Yes you've lost your first game, however, a couple of tweaks to the starting 11 and formation and you'll have cracked it.

Harry needs to stop setting us up to play for a 0-0 every away game.

You are embarrassing all the other decent posters on here with that dribble...

Gracious in defeat is a quality you clearly lack in life.

"Harry and the team have punched above our weight so far this season."

Almost lost for words...

With the largest budget and wage bill in the entire division, you think you are 'punching above your weight?'

Pick a prize son, any off the top shelf will do!

I organized a threesome last night. There were a couple of no-shows, but I still had fun.

Why would I feel like an idiot Blobby? I was simply attempting to have a bit of harmless banter with a few opposition fans before a crucial game.

As it turns out, it appears to be simply not welcome by some on this forum. Instead I've learnt that you are Queens Park Rangers and you've heard it ALL before. Poor you

To beat Burnley today we must
at 09:02 26 Oct 2013

It's a real test between a team full of quality players that shouldn't really be in this league and a team with an immense amount of heart, fitness and determination.

Hand on heart I'd probably take a draw now, however, I think we'll have a real crack at you and if we can get a goal I fancy us to see it out.

I agree with the initial post that we do supply the front men from out wide, especially down the right with the Kightly/Trippier combination. I think we are more than one dimensional though and we can go through the centre if needed.

Should be a good one!

...and it took it as the same John. Who hasn't had to endure crap on and off the field these last few seasons? Our last two managers have jumped ship halfway through the season (the horse-faced one left us during our 1st Premier League season) , we have to sell our best players year on year just to stay financially viable, we don't have wealthy foreign owners, we don't have endless pockets of money to dig into to pay astronomical wages etc...

I don't moan about it though and have a HUGE chip on my shoulder like that other miserable sod. I try to have a laugh and remain light hearted, hence the original post. It's a real shame some are so bitter, especially when considering promotion back to the Premier League is pretty much nailed on for you.

Considering 'Arry's alleged dodgy dealings in the past, I saw this as quite amusing. Seeing as the QPR fans on this board are considerably more 'balanced' than those on WATRB, I thought I'd share.

Enjoy.

Burnley game on tv
at 17:07 23 Oct 2013

For those QPR fans in Australia, Setanta Sports Plus will be broadcasting the game live via their internet service with a delayed broadcast on their TV channel (Setanta Sports) a few hours after the game.

For those without Setanta or those not in Australia, VIPBOX Sports normally have a stream for games like this;- http://www.viplivebox.eu/sports/football.html

Stanisgod - the pitch issues around Xmas are a thing of the past at Turf Moor.

http://www.dessosports.com/sports/football/football-projects/burnley-fc-turf-moo

The pitch is now a Desso GrassMaster surface (same as the Emirates amongst others) and our groundsman has been nominated for Groundsman of the Year for the last two seasons. There is a valid argument that the pitch is superior to the one at Loftus Rd.

Back to the topic in question, those comments on the ClaretsMad board were made after comments made by QPR fans on 'WearetheRangersBoys'.

EDIT - Beat me to it Andy!!
