Les for me. No other departure has really compared in damage and sadness caused IMO.
You would have thought Taarabt would be on this thread a lot more, but for me I was so tired of the drama and unreliability I was almost glad to see him go.
The conspiracy theorist in me would suggest Redknapp managed him out to get Krancjar and a more ‘favourable’ agent in.
I always thought his touch and passing were decent, and so did Mark Warburton who if memory serves said he was good at looking after the ball and was why he was signed.
I think when you are 6'4 and built like a wardrobe you can get typecast, but he has contributed quite few goals through his touch and ability with the ball.
That's not to say he is Premiership quality though, although if I was around the bottom of it i'd want him in the team.
Dwight Yorke was class, obviously, but in my lifetime I’ve always thought Villa were excellent at churning out consistent 6/10 Gabby Agbonlahor / Gareth Barry type players but never really produced a superstar.
I know they were huge at one point winning the EC but as close to modern sleeping giants as you can get for me.
