Thanks for the report, Jamie. After the last post, imagining the return of JCS, I got an ear worm….
Imagine Chair and JCS returning I wonder if you can No need for dev squad Just a team of men Imagine all the players, with full availability Yoo, hoo, oo-oo
You may say I'm a dreamer Ben Williams is another one I hope some day you'll believe us And QPR will have won Written by: Julien Stephane Album: The Heston Album Released: 2025
I was told that it originates from Southampton Company Union Man. They allegedly broke the dock strike Portsmouth and the name stuck but that’s also been labelled an urban myth by others.
The skate nickname is somewhat dodgier and relates to a sailor's sexual preferences with fish. Probably sits in the same category but many a local has been referred to as Skate Bait.
Just seen your reply before mine Hantsi - I guess both are ‘Island’ legends that will remain in place regardless :-)
Me too but given the circumstances, I think Kone was smart money.
I would have Kelman over Frey and Celar though, had that been possible. I wonder if he is thinking maybe he should have stayed too. Would have been a pretty good set of options with Burrell.
I’d leave him up - he’ll probably keep two defenders back for the corner so that’s 2-3 less players in the box and a quick out-ball over the top
Note to Coach Beard/Bould - please can you practice some corners with blocking for Keifer Moore types - just getting a body in the guy’s way a bit so he can’t get a free header. No need to foul him or out jump him because that’s a big ask but block his run by standing your ground in front of him.
We used to do this every week in Sunday pub football so I doubt it’s that hard to implement. Just set the team ratter loose to do the job when you have identified the oppo’s threat among all the white vans in the car park.
Well, 3 of the front 4 had a pre-season (or nothing) elsewhere, which seems to help. Burrell seemingly can run fast for the majority of the game. Kone looks like he will just get fitter but he lasts 90mins quite easily.
That attack took a lot of pressure off us in the first half and Wrexham thought it was good to just bypass midfield, which was good for us until they fixed it second half.
I thought Wrexham’s subs were better than ours in terms of order, but we got there in the end and we had good options, maybe we could just think a bit more about game management with our more experienced subs. Not complaining about the result and Demebele was better off the bench but one more DM earlier on for example would have been sensible.
1st world issues with squad selection and rotation but the three game weeks need managing better than we have done previously. Here’s hoping we can do that and no one else breaks a wrist or gets leprosy midweek.
Good stuff / can’t be easy commentating in front of the home fans - on your own.
He’s really grown into the job and does it really professionally. Well prepared and a great foil for Sints. Hope they are reunited soon, even if it’s not necessarily every week on comms, it would make for a great video to see Sints getting well again.
