Seventh heaven as Warnock chases a new keeper!
Seventh heaven as Warnock chases a new keeper!

With the number of substitutes restored to seven from next season, Neil Warnock has revealed he is chasing a keeper to provide competition for Paddy Kenny just hours after letting Andy Lonergan leave.

Lonergan's move to Bolton has left Warnock short of cover between the sticks. Youngster Alex Cairns has just 45 minutes of Championship experience under his belt and his secret weapon Leigh Bromby, who can go in goal in an emergency is out until Christmas so that just leaves Paul Rachubka.

Rachubka who's successive calamities against Coventry, Peterborough and most famously Blackpool last Autumn have earned him an unwanted place in Leeds anti-folklore, is transfer-listed but unsurprisingly there are few takers after Rachubka didn't set the world alight on loan to Tranmere and Orient next season.

One of Warnock's first acts as manager was to release veteran Maik Taylor who moved to Millwall without a solitary Leeds appearance.

With the number of subs restored to seven, Warnock has confirmed he wants to bring in another keeper now, why? Surely our priorities lie elsewhere and doesn't young Cairns warrant a stint on the bench to prove himself as one for the future?
