Six days since my last blog. God built the world in six days and had the seventh day off. Wimp.

Michael Appleton, Pompey manager, matched his celestial counterpart’s exploits in the football world in the same period of time.

Appleton, who had signed up to execute a five year plan concocted by our previous wafer-thin owners CSI, has been nothing short of inspirational. Appy knew things were going tits up in typical Pompey style when CSI’s 5-year plan lasted all of ten days when Antonov had his collar felt, but he has remained stoically, gaining a legendary status amongst fans granted to few.

This status has grown immeasurably over the summer, especially in the last week or so.

From fielding a Paper Round X1 against Plymouth in the League Cup last Tuesday, Appleton somehow cobbled together in less than 48 hours a useful-looking senior side to face Bournemouth in our first league game last Saturday.

Most of them met for the first time in the dressing room before the Bournemouth game.

Less than 24 hours after Portpin’s monumental hissy fit and subsequent withdrawal of their bid for the club, Appleton swung into action.

The Wellington Training Ground at Eastleigh on Thursday looked like a promo film for the Job Centre as players literally queued up to sign on for both the club and Appleton... To read the dodgycurry's full blog click here.
