Jackett Wants A Pacey Forward Line

Speed It Up Says Jackett

Kenny Jackett has admitted that his forward line is lacking pace at the moment but also added that even if Leon Knight was still here then it wasn't that kind of pace that he wanted. Leaves on train lines maybe but Jackett told the Western Mail

"Leon (knight) definitely had sharpness and pace, but he tended to use it on a one-off basis,

"I don't think there were too many games when he got behind players on a repeated basis.

"We need someone who can show pace repeatedly. People who are going to run in there again and again and again.

"Having some pace in our front line is the one thing I've perhaps missed as manager and need to address.

"I'm not just talking necessarily about the front two. It's about having some pace somewhere within the front six positions.

"If you've got two good strikers, but neither of them are particularly quick, then you need pace out wide or perhaps a central midfield runner who can get beyond the front two.

"It's an area we need to improve upon."

But would that area mean a move into the transfer market when the transfer window opens on January 1st? Your guess is as good as mine as Jackett says that he needs time to assess his squad and the players returning from injury before he embarks on any spending - fresh from the Chairman's words that we would not be spending big.

Again, to the Western Mail, Jackett said "We've got players like Darren Way and Tom Williams to come back and that will be crucial in how many players - if any - we go for next month.

"I'm concentrating on the group of players already at the club - firstly to put together a consistent run to prevent the leading teams getting away from us and, secondly, who's coming back from injury and what possible impact they could have.

"Then we can assess what, if anything, we need to do in the transfer market."

So there you have it. Draw your own conclusions.
