Mark Gower says that his missed midweek penalty has not affected his confidence from the spot

Gower missed the chance to score his first competitive goal for the Swans when his first half penalty was saved against Reading on Tuesday night but he insists he will take the next one if he gets the chance.

But he also accepts that he may let Stephen Dobbie take the penalty if he wants to after the two of them both wanted the chance to open their league account on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Gower said "I've watched the penalty since and it was really disappointing not to have scored as it was a big chance to get three points

"I've missed a couple in my career, but I've got a decent record for penalties.

"I think Stephen (Dobbie) wants to take them and if he is desperate to do it then I will let him.

"But I will put my hand up to take the next one, I'm not going to shirk any responsibility. It hasn't hit my confidence or anything like that.

"I've got the bottle to step up and take one again.

"We created a lot of chances against Reading on Tuesday and it was a performance that was more like the ones we were producing last season

"We would take a result over a performance, of course, but we took a lot from Tuesday's display. It was encouraging.

"The lads are feeling confident for tomorrow."
