Angel Rangel insists he is happy at the Liberty Stadium despite interest from elsewhere

The Swansea City defender has been the subject of reported interest from Blackpool adding to that of both Wigan and Fulham both of which materialised this year.

But he says he is happy to stay at Swansea amd has told new manager Brendan Rodgers that he is happy to stay with the Swans.

He told the Western Mail “I’ve said to the new gaffer and to the chairman that I am happy

“He (Rodgers) knows I have been linked with other clubs.

“He has said he wants me to stay and I have told him I want to stay.

“The gaffer said he knows what kind of player I am and that he wants me to be an important part of the team.

“I am very pleased with that. He has said I will have an attacking role down the right side which is good for me.

“He has given me a freedom to go forward and I enjoy that side of the game.

“Every summer is the same, so I don’t have much to say.

“I am concentrating on Swansea City and working hard this season.

“I’ve said I wanted to play in the Premier League if I had the chance, but so far I do not know of anything. I am just concentrating on Swansea.

“At the end of the day these things could be just rumours and only Huw Jenkins knows if there has been contact from other clubs.

“He has not said there has been any approach from Blackpool, so there is nothing me for me to say about it.

“If there is something I will give my opinion on it, but I am concentrating on Swansea.

“To be honest I am not in a rush, we’ve got plenty of time. Maybe in a month or so we will hear something, but I am happy with having a year left.

“I’ve got a year left on my contract, so there is plenty of time to think about it.

“I would consider a new contract with Swansea, it is something that could be good for me and the club.

“At the moment we haven’t arrange to speak about anything, but maybe in the close future we will.”

“We are getting used to the ball again and enjoying playing. We’ve got a couple of weeks until the first game of the season and everything is going well at the moment,” said Rangel.

“The manager has said he wants us to play attacking football and I am happy with that. It’s the kind of football we like to play and everyone knows that.

“It was something maybe the team lacked last season. It’s the same kind of style we had under Roberto and I think the new gaffer knows it is the kind of style we need to win matches.

“The best way to score goals is to have the ball in the final third of the field.”
