Dyer Injury Mars Swans Draw
Sunday, 15th Dec 2013 18:54

Nathan Dyer suffered what looks to be a broken ankle as the Swans gained a further point with a 1-1 draw at Norwich having been pegged back from an opener on twelve minutes by Dyer.

Dyer was stretchered off just before half time after a challenge with Bassong that saw the Swansea winger needing oxygen and taken almost straight away to hospital to assess the damage that looks set to keep him out of action for some time.

Up until that point it had all looked so good for the Swans who led from Dyer's well taken goal in the twelfth minute when he broke onto a long ball from Ashley Williams and lifted the ball superbly over the advancing John Ruddy to give the Swans the lead.

Having made eight changes from the side that started at St Gallen on Thursday night, the Swans looked much sharper in the opening stages and were soon into their stride in terms of keeping possession and passing the ball around with the attacking options looking far more comprehensive with Rangel and Davies back in the side who both combine well with the wide options that we have available.

However, it was before Dyer's injury that Norwich started to get the upper hand in the game and in truth you always felt that the equaliser was coming having had a shot cleared off the line and other chances before Gary Hoper scored a spectacular equaliser in stoppage time at the end of the first half.

Hooper's volley was spectacular as he gave Vorm no chance to send the home side on level terms and probably a fair scoreline given the overall first half play that we had seen.

The second half was very much dominated by Norwich in terms of goal threats although the Swans still retained the lions share of possession without ever looking like they were really likely to grab a winner although both Shelvey and Bony came close but the best chances were for the home side.

Definitely a day of mixed emotions today though at the end with a hard earned point in our tally for the journey back to South Wales but the injury to Nathan Dyer definitely put a dampener on things.
