Sunderland v Swansea City - Match Preview
Friday, 21st Aug 2015 19:31 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @Swansnews)

The Swans are back in Premier League action tomorrow when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light with their hosts currently propping up the Premier League table albeit after just two games

I think it is fair enough to say that things could not have started worse for Sunderland this season. Having been beaten 4-2 at Leicester on the opening day of the season they were equally easily beaten at home last week by Norwich with an equally bad display.

The pain of that display for them was compounded by the fact that many of their fans were leaving within the hour such was the nature of the performance and for those that were left there was plenty of boos left for the players at the final whistle.

Then there was the criticism from the media followed by Dick Advocaat being installed as the clear favourite to be the first manager to lose his job this season and Sunderland being written off with thirty-six games to go.

So the last thing I suspect they want now is an in form Swansea team who have four points from six that include a brilliant point at Chelsea in their last road trip. And couple that with the easy win over Newcastle last week and we have every right to go into this game with confidence at a sky high level.

Of course there is an argument that suggests this is the worst time to face Sunderland as they could well come out fighting trying to prove that it is not as bad as it seems. However, they will need to step their performance level up several notches to get anything out of the game.

We know that Garry Monk will prepare his side with the same level of detail that he would irrespective of the opposition and that has to give us comfort in front of the travelling support who will make the long journey up from South Wales.

Team News

Garry Monk has the luxury of an almost fully fit squad to choose from for this game now that Ki Sung-Yeung is back to full fitness. However I cannot see him starting this game as I just cannot see beyond Monk picking the same team that started last weekend against Newcastle.

It is a line up that is working and a line up that I think will get us the result that we want so we have the Swans lining up as follows

Score Prediction

I am definitely better at predicting on here than I am on the Prediction League having predicted a draw at Chelsea on the opening day of the season and the win over Newcastle last week so it is definitely aim for a hat-trick this time around.

I think we could well benefit tomorrow from space that could be afforded to Sigurdsson as Sunderland are likely to focus on the hype that is surrounding Ayew, Shelvey and Montero and we know what it can mean when Gylfi has the space that he loves.

That coupled with the form of both sides points to just one thing and that is a Swans win - 3-1.
