Just 79 countries played in the 2019 rugby World Cup. This year will be the 9th World Cup tournament.
105 nations are now in the world rankings. Far more strength in depth in football but a huge increase in the number of countries playing rugby in the last 20 years.
I love both sports and struggle to understand the need to denigrate one by fans of the other which occurs both ways. Live and let live.
