This was the area I was worried about all summer. Everyone was convinced we were signing this blockbuster striker and people were happy the likes of McBurnie and Kone went elsewhere. Vipotnik hadn’t exploded by that point either and I think we panic bought. Not much to judge him on yet, but he hasn’t done much so far. |

Yalcouye doesn’t actually get in this team, but he’d have strolled in last season (at least for the periods Allen was injured or the 30 minutes every game he couldn’t play). Last seasons positional equivalents are Fulton and Eom, who are both still here, but usually start on the bench now. |

The next two games are huge. Both winnable and if we win both, we’re in and around the playoff places, games like today and Leicester get forgotten and he’s going a good job. Anything less than four points, particularly if we play like we did today, and he comes under more scrutiny. |

It wasn’t Vipotniks type of game. Yes he’s well in credit for how he’s played this season and should be our first choice Yes he can be deadly when we are having decent possession in the final third. When we’re not creating anything, he works hard pressing, but doesn’t drop deep or drift out wide and consequently just doesn’t get into the game. I watched the Southampton stream and halfway through the first half they brought up a graphic showing he had had 3 touches. It didn’t get much better for him. Not suggesting he shouldn’t start on Wednesday, but he didn’t offer much today. |

Of course they are, he’s just not getting a tune out of them. Galbraith, Stamenic, Yalcouye, Inoussa would have all walked into that team. Probably Adam Idah as well, given we’ve had a different Vipotnik for most of this season. Cullen and Fulton were regular starters last season. They are bit part players now. |

This is where he either sets himself apart from the last three managers, or goes down the same path as them. They either didn’t change it at all when it became obvious it wasn’t working, or they did but reverted back to it after a few games. I think Sheehan is approaching that crossroad now. |

The last sentence sums it up. There just isn’t much cohesion. Not saying we’re playing as eleven individuals, but we don’t function as a team either. We looked ok when we nicked possession and broke forward, but when we actually had to construct an attack, it was no better or more creative than Martin or Williams football. Slow probing passes until they got everyone behind the ball and we went backwards then across to the other side. We’ve got better players than that. I’m a big believer in the manager works with these players every day, so I haven’t questioned the exclusion of Widell and Bobby Wales, but what we’re doing at the moment isn’t working. |

On the face of it, that’s a great result. In reality, it was a dismal performance and Southampton should have been out of sight by half time. If it was a one off, I think most of us would be happy with the point, but we’re looking disjointed most weeks. However you dress it up, Sheehan should be getting more out of this group of players. I’m happy giving him time and waiting for things to click, but we should st least be seeing signs of that by now. |

There’s no doubt he should and will be judged as a manager who has had massive investment into the squad (by our standards). They are also sensible enough to realise it takes time to build an effective team when you bring in ten or so new players at the same time with most of them being in first team contention. He shouldn’t be anywhere near the sack and while I’m confident these owners will have contingency plans in place, I doubt they are exploring them too aggressively at the moment. It needs to pick up though. He got the job on the back of doing a lot better with a much weaker squad last season. He needs to get back to those levels at a minimum. |

You are probably one of very few that doesn’t understand which demographics I’m referring to |

I meant in terms of ideology not significance, but yes, you’re absolutely right. Your first paragraph probably applies to me. I don’t think I’ve got very much at all in common with the Rangers as a second team mob, but I may find myself voting with them. Like many, I’m looking at the type of party I’d never have considered in the past. I probably won’t vote reform, but it’s not the definite no it would have been. |

Although I rarely agree Trampie and think the rabid Welsh nationalists and rabid British nationalists have a lot more in common than he would admit, he is right about the lads with the Union Jacks and the Reform banners. They were there an hour ago and had a lot of support from passing motorists |
