Online SafetyUnderage use of the site The Online Safety Act 2023 was designed to make the internet safer for online users and in particular children. To this end we’ve decided that children should be discouraged from taking part in online discussions on the site. We aren’t going to force an age recognition system every time you log in, but we will have to remove users that make their (under) age public. If you are a child wanting to interact with the site, it’s essential you don’t make your age public and we recommend that you don’t use the Direct Messaging (DM) system. Also, take particular note of our advice on anonymity when choosing a username. Your privacy It is highly recommended that you keep your personal details private. Do not assume that everyone reading your posts has the best intentions so keep your name, all contact details (phone, email), address, employment details, and social media accounts private. If you post the same information on your socials then it may be easy to link you to your profiles. Those profile will possibly hold lots of information about you including the above, but also family, car, where you socialise etc. When choosing an account name, it’s advisable to select a name that doesn’t give anything away about you, age, sex, real name etc. Passwords Please select a password that is unique to this site. Hacking is becoming all too prevalent and with some of the largest companies and organisations succumbing, we cannot guarantee that your details are safe but we endeavour to do our utmost. If you have a unique password, then that information is useless to the hacker. Please help us by reporting inappropriate content We cannot monitor all the content on the site 24/7 so we need your help. If you see something inappropriate then please use the reporting tools next to every post, use the Contact Us page or direct message system to contact the moderators. The Act specifically lists the following material as being inappropriate so if you see any of the below please contact us:
Please note that the above is our interpretation of the Online Safety Act and it may be deemed too lenient or too stringent. Over time we will modify this guide with new information when it becomes available. |
