Mini junior football question. 22:28 - Jul 12 with 2706 views | sherpajacob | Does anybody know, under FAW rules, at what age group kids go to 11 a side. My U11s go to 8 a side next season, and I've been told by someone that they go to 11 a side at U12. Seems a hell of a jump to me. I can't find anything conclusive on FAW sites.

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Cheers BJ, That was also my understanding. Do you have any links / evidence to that effect. The person who told me it was 11v11 at u12 usually talks complete b0ll0cks, but I didn't have any way to refute him.

It does seem dependant on the local league. Vale of Glamorgan U6 & U7- 4 a side U8 - 5 a side U9- 6 a side U10 7 a side U11 - 8 a side. Seems a logical progression so far, but then U12 - 11 a side on a full size pitch. Do we just want to produce a generation of hoof ballers?

The newly amalgamated Port Talbot & Bridgend League is also 9v9 at U12. Pitch size is between the penalty areas. 11v11 on a full-size pitch at that age is (IMO) ridiculous. We played a friendly using those rules against a team from Swansea who wanted to get ready for next season and it was horribly apparent that the kids just weren't physically ready for it.
