I’ve had much pleasure reading the match threads on various Leeds forums, especially when we scored and the total meltdown that followed it. This was part of a comment posted that shows just how much that loss hurt them. Hilarious 😂

* Swansea cheating. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on the ref, as it certainly looked like Swansea had spent a lot of time on the training pitch focussing on diving and any other form of cheating they could think of. It wasn't even just one culprit - there were quite a few at it, which makes me suspect that it was prearranged. The consensus was that they were akin to Subbuteo figures that blew over in the slightest wind. Their #22, whoever he is, was an absolute disgrace. Spent more time on his arse feigning injury before sprinting off when the inevitable foul was given. The most laughable was in the first half. Alioski, all 6 stone of him, ran past their hulking #5. I could see no contact, but the #5 went down as though Alioski had driven a sword through his heart. Now the funny thing is that he was stationary, and Alioski was screaming past him. If there was the slightest contact, the laws of physics would have Alioski flying through the air, or flattened. Neither happened. He continued on his way. Yet the ref made the most improbable decision. This happened time & time again. Then there were the substitutions. Remember this new rule about leaving the pitch by the shortest route? Well Leeds did, and I would hope that Swansea & the ref did. But Swansea pointedly chose the slowest routes every time, as part of their time-wasting campaign. Did the ref object? Nope - he even escorted one of their players from the penalty box to the halfway line. Probably arranging their shower activities.

* Timewasting. Right from the start, Swansea were playing for time. I was absolutely stunned. Here we had a team renowned for playing good football, & sharing top spot with us. You'd surely expect them to get stuck in. But no, every opportunity to waste time was employed. Goalie changing sides for kicks, going down like they've been shot & staying there overly long for the smallest infraction, rolling about clutching various bits of their bodies before sprinting away clearly pain & injury free, and standing over our (occasional) free kicks, even in our half, in order to prevent us taking a swift free kick

That Colchester game shocked the football world at the time with their big centre-forward Ray Crawford inspirational with two goals in our cup exit

Agree we didn't create much as we huffed & puffed for the majority of the game, credit to the Swans who stifled us & made it very difficult for us to play our natural game, defensively you were very good, clean sheets & you don't lose games.

Early days but I'll be surprised i f the Swans & Leeds are not challenging for a promotion place come the end of the season.

See you at the Liberty next Easter

No need to thank me ...

They can say they dominated the game, but the way i saw it, even in the first half, any time Swans had a break on, Leeds would just foul us,..

How overrated is that Bamford chap, if Leeds got shot of him they would be dangerous.
Wouldn't have him at Ammanford!

It reminded me of us from the past, loads of possession, nice passing but little or no end product. Their forwards can’t shoot for sh*t.

Well if it’s any consolation your boys harried us all over the park , to the extent that we couldn’t really dictate play how we like to. But for Leeds it’s a matter of urgency to get a good striker , you had so many shots but only three on target and then they weren’t really testing our keeper.

We were resolute in defence but I always knew we have the capability to grind out a result by nicking a goal. And at the best possible time too.

A word about the atmosphere, it was superb. You don’t get the same in the PL.

Best of luck 64, as long as we can win the league you can come up with us in 2nd place . And apologies if some of our fans are bad winners, some people have no grace mate.

Thanks Bryn I'd take 2nd place now

I'm not a Bamford fan, always felt we required a clinical prolific striker, it's not gonna happened even though we have £20m+ in the kitty from player sales during the summer so we can only hope PB finds some form.

You're right you rarely hear any chanting in the premiership, the atmosphere is woeful. That's why I love away games because the atmosphere we create is magical, I always think as a fan we are fortunate in that respect

No apologies needed fans will always defend their own club & rightly so !

Off on holiday now to Northumbria for a lazy week as the last two months have been manic business & socially. Looking forward to a weekend in Abergavenny in mid-November too!

I looked back at the game last night and we had a couple of scary moments and a bit of luck but Leeds didn't create much unless you count speculative strikes from distance as 'chances'.
They won the battle of the stats but, as we know so well, you can batter a team but unless you put the ball in the net you won't win.

But another thought; so much of the football we consume are highlights and (most of us) are accustomed to seeing the goals - it is easy to forget all players in all teams miss 'cast iron' chances because they aren't always shown. From the stands it is also easy to forget the missed 'chances' (in Leeds' case hitting row z from 30 yards) when you win a game.

And, pundits and many fans forget defending and goalkeeping are part of the game. I've seen a lot of comment about Nketiah's 'miss' but little about how Woodman's actions (position and reach towards the ball) made his contribution as effective as a save. Had Nketiah's header been on target Woodman was so close he would probably have saved the effort.
Saves, putting attackers off, blocks and tackles are what defenders are paid to do. I don't think we came close to parking the bus, crawling along the highway maybe, but it got us tour destination.

Poll: Should the summer transfer window close before the season starts?

I thought Woodman got a touch, deflecting it to the left side of his head and making the ball go to the left of where he intended.

He did. I’m sure he palmed the ball onto the other side of Nketiah’s head. A fine piece of goalkeeping

We have only ourselves to blame, had we taken our chances we'd have won the game comfortably. I could sense what was coming throughout the 2nd half as we huffed & puffed with nowhere near the same cohesion we'd shown in previous matches. We had three chances to clear our lines from the corner eventually conceding the goal with ten men in & around the box. We certainly didn't deserve to lose the game as we were the better footballing side as expected on home soil but scoring goals & keeping clean sheets is what counts, we did neither & it ultimately cost us three points.

As for Swansea, you were disciplined & defended magnificently, your players pressed & harried us into mistakes making it difficult to for us to get a foothold in the game. The Swans took one of their two chances (the other one where our keeper had to make a save) & defended efficiently & that's how to win games especially in tight encounters.

Leeds look far more comfortable on our travels. ER use to be a fortress, now it's more like a sweet shop!

Look forward to the return match at the Liberty stadium

One of the reasons I like watching full game replays: no reason to be continually watching the ball so you can concentrate on other aspects of the game for a better understanding of the how and the why rather than solely the what.

I had 3 bets second half from around the hour mark, wins @ 6/1 and 8/1 and Surridge to score @ 16's. Should have had another one with 5 mins to go @12/1 as I could only see us scoring but I'd already bet on us to win @17/4 on Friday as well. Don't normally bet on us but I'm doing well this season.

The bitterness weighs heavy on some.

Some right pr!cks on there, but I suppose it's normal for all football fans to start to get over-excited and especially biased for their own teams when they start to play well and get a run of good form.

There is a good message for us there, enjoy it and keep the support going, but keep our feet on the ground and don't get too carried away bragging to rival fans, things can change quickly!
