 | Forum Thread | Marko Stamenić - Our New No 6 ... at 13:22 20 Aug 2025
"Marko Stamenić has revealed how his first-hand experience of watching Swansea City in action has just whetted his appetite for getting down to work with his new club. The 23-year-old midfielder joins the Swans from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee, and will wear the number six shirt after signing an initial four-year contract. Stamenić was at the Swansea.com Stadium at the weekend to watch Alan Sheehan’s side beat Sheffield United 1-0. And the mix of the performance and the atmosphere in the stadium left the New Zealand international in no doubt that the move to south Wales is the right one for him. “I love watching football, so the chance to watch any football game is a good one for me,” he said. “But to see the way the team played, the philosophy that the team play with is a different type of football that you love to see. “I am really happy, it was a big win and a good one for the club as a whole. “We’ve been talking about this move for some time now, and I’ve been told about the plans and the project and I fell in love with it from that first meeting. “I am just over the moon that the deal is done.” And Stamenić also revealed how a former Forest teammate only had good things to say to him about Swansea as the move drew near. " “Lewis O’Brien spoke to me,” he said. “I know he was only here for a short time but it was one that he felt was full of positives. He only spoke highly of the club and the people around it, and I arrive in Swansea with only good feelings about the club.” Stamenić boasts top-flight experience across Europe having played in Denmark, Serbia and Greece. He has also featured in the Champions League and Europa League, while he has recently helped New Zealand secure a place at next year’s World Cup in the United States. So, while he may still be relatively young in years, Stamenić has his sights set on making an impact for the Swans as part of a midfield unit where there is no shortage of competition for places. “There is plenty of competition, and that’s a good thing because competition is what will drive us to be the best versions of ourselves,” he added. “I think that is really important and I want to try and implement that, I will give my all and die for the sleeve and the club. “I am stoked to be at this amazing club. I cannot wait to see the fans. I have huge ambitions and goals for myself and the club and I hope we can achieve it together.” https://www.swanseacity.com/news/marko-stamenic-being-stadium-just-whetted-my-ap [Post edited 20 Aug 13:22]

 | Forum Thread | From Beacon to Bystander: Rise and Decline of Swansea City Supporters’ Trust at 11:01 20 Aug 2025
"There was a time when Swansea City stood as a beacon of supporter-led governance in British football. A time when the Swansea City Supporters’ Trust wasn’t just a footnote in club affairs—it was a co-owner, a conscience, and a community anchor. Today, that legacy feels distant. The Trust, once hailed as a model for others to follow, now risks being seen as little more than a glorified supporters’ club—tea, biscuits, and a club lanyard thrown in for good measure." "This is a story of pride, betrayal, resilience—and the urgent need to remember what made the Trust matter." https://jackarmy.net/2025/08/20/from-beacon-to-bystander-the-rise-and-decline-of [Post edited 20 Aug 11:03]

 | Forum Thread | Gordon Daniels RIP ... at 15:23 15 Aug 2025
"Swansea City is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the club’s former general manager Gordon Daniels at the age of 94. Gordon spent 25 years with the club and worked with a number of managers, including Trevor Morris, Roy Bentley, Harry Griffiths and John Toshack, enjoying a particularly warm and close relationship with Griffiths. He was with the Swans during the remarkable rise from the fourth tier to the top-flight under Toshack, and during the period in the 1980s where the club nearly went out of business. His passion and affinity for Swansea City were unquestionable and, as a club, we send our sincerest condolences to Gordon’s friends and family at this sad time." https://www.swanseacity.com/news/swansea-city-saddened-hear-passing-gordon-danie |
 | Forum Thread | Swansea City sign Malick Yalcouyé on loan ... at 17:47 14 Aug 2025
"Swansea City is delighted to confirm the signing of Malick Yalcouyé on loan for the 2025-26 season, subject to international clearance and visa approval. The 19-year-old midfielder joins the Swans from Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion and will wear the number eight shirt in SA1. The Mali-born Ivory Coast age-grade international will further strengthen head coach Alan Sheehan’s options in the middle of the park, and is renowned for his high-energy style of play, ability to break up opposition attacks and distribute the ball effectively. Having first emerged at the academy of Center de Formation Etoiles De Sahel Abobo, Yalcouyé went on to join Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas and was just 17 when first featuring for them in the CAF Champions League. His showings soon attracted the interest of clubs in Europe, and he followed a well-trodden path of players heading to Sweden from Mimosas when he signed for IFK Goteborg in January 2024. His meteoric rise continued when, after just 14 appearances for the Allsvenskan club, he joined Brighton in a £6million move on a five-year deal during the summer 2024 transfer window. Yalcouyé spent last season on loan in Austria with Sturm Graz, starring in their Champions League campaign, and Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has spoken during the summer of how impressed he had been with the tenacious midfielder’s development. Head coach Alan Sheehan, said: “We are very excited to bring Malick to Swansea City. “During our conversations it was clear he is a young player with a relentless energy and appetite for the game, which has been underlined by his rapid rise over the last few years. “We will look to get him integrated into the squad as quickly as we can and we are excited by the attributes he will add to the group.” Director of football Richard Montague, added: “We are very pleased to have added Malick to Alan’s squad, and we are confident he will add different attributes to our midfield with his tenacity, energy and ability to read the game. “He has made a considerable impression in a short period of time at his previous clubs, including in his appearances in the Champions League last season, and we look forward to seeing the impact he can make in the Championship. “We are grateful to Brighton for their support and the positive manner in which this process has been conducted, and that they have viewed Swansea City as the right place for Malick to perform at Championship level given the competition for his signature.” Adam Worth, Swansea City’s global head of analytics and recruitment, said: “We are delighted to sign another long-term target and welcome Malick Yalcouyé to Swansea City. “We have tracked and scouted Malick throughout his time on loan with Sturm Graz last year, and we have been keeping an extremely close eye on his progress. “Malick offers us a remarkable work-rate and energy, he has a bright future ahead of him and it’s exciting that Swansea City will now be part of his career journey." https://www.swanseacity.com/news/swansea-city-sign-malick-yalcouye-loan |
