I’m not a big fan of social media and minimise usage to occasionally browsing stuff you don’t have to sign up to (these days not a great deal!)

The club’s twitter account is one I would check in on quickly an hour before a game for the line up and a quick screenshot before it locks you out.

It is interesting to see what’s going on with that platform at the moment, rumours this morning that the whole thing is on the verge of potentially collapsing. Considering he only just paid $44bn for it that would be some blow out.

Half the workforce already gone, staff locked out of offices again today, those that didn’t sign up to be ‘extremely hardcore’ going forward told not to bother coming back.

Fair degree of putting words in my mouth there. I'm not "dismissing an entire field", I literally wrote a post on this thread outlining some of the areas I think so-called 'citizen journalism' is really good and valuable. But then you knew that.

On the topic of "Citizen Journalism" and "the late Twitter" (RIP) - What the hell has happened to Balenciaga over the past few days? The Media, typically very quick to notice the problems & injustices in anything & everything else......Somehow completely missed this one. Only made it into the MSM today (1 hour ago on the BBC) because Kim Kardashian has come out and condemned it. How lousy.

Similarly, the Jack Monroe saga continues. A scammer the MSM presented to the good British public as a "Food poverty campaigner" - Subsequently proven to be a complete charlatan. Something many of us already knew on quite a deep level, as we've actually lived through those situations, and she clearly ain't. 10+ years this grift has gone on for, facilitated by ITV, BBC, The Guardian et al.

Once again it's taken some know-nothing nobody with a twitter account, or a blog, but most critically, no formal higher education in journalism, to do the actual journalism the public needs.

Last week broke the strange case of Ngozi Fulani. Very different versions of this story are available depending on which form of media you consume.

If you read the BBC: Woman got invited to the palace thanks to excellent domestic violence charity work; senior member of Royal Household used this as an opportunity to abuse her racially. Royal has now apologized and resigned, so must be fact. Subsequently, Ngozi has faced horrific abuse on social media.

According to Social media: Woman named Marlene Headley runs domestic violence charity for specifically black women, pays herself and a daughter a decent salary out of it; Evidence Ngozi Fulani isn't her real name; evidence she wears this outfit on specific occasions because, like her name, it's a costume. Evidence she has no problem discussing her ethnic or cultural background in other situations around other people.

They lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us, and we keep pretending to believe them.

I've found invaluable financial advice on Twitter on which the traditional media are reluctant/not willing to report.
Not least of which...

Censorship in social media runs deep and the bias, in general, is (so-called) centre-left. I found these revelations very interesting:

The BBC is still too busy trying to convince us about that Ngozi Fulani story and covering Brittney Griner (Who?) to bother covering the whole "Twitter manipulated public discourse for 15+ years" story.

Well I'm still "shadow banned" on there, briefly lifted when Our Elon took the reins, probably due to my less than flattering comments about Our MeAgain.
